  • Ford Mondeo 2003 - Mondeo 2003 2.0 TDCI power probs between 50-60mph 7 Apr 2010 (Forum)
When I am accelerating my car seem to jerk as if there is air in the fuel line , it mainly occurs when I reach between 50 and 60 mph , it seems to calm down after that . I have just changed Air and Fuel filter and also just cleaned the MAF sensor but no change. My car has about 125K on teh clock, could this be a turbo problem ??

  • Which is economical? AirCon or window open on mway 18 Jun 2009 (Forum)
We know that the air conditioning unit in the car affects the fuel economy when in use. Have seen cars on the motorway with windows open travelling at 50+mph. I thought it would be more economical to use an air con frugally compared to having a window open which causes a drag which affects the aerodynamic of the car hence using more fuel.

  • Ford Mondeo 1 (1993 - 1996) - 95 2.0 petrol - thirsty automatic 7 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I have recently bought it, with 90k on the clock and it drinks petrol like I do beer. It is currently doing 260 miles on a full tank of fuel. Now I know autos use a lot of fuel but this seems ott. Any ideas or advice greatly appreciated, because today in heavy traffic I did 42 miles and used a quarter tank. Thanks

  • Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 2001 2.0 Emissions light on 8 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hi, My emission's light keeps coming on regardless of replacing the lambda sensor. It's reading on the computer as saying fuel/oxygen too rich or words to that effect. After checking under the bonnet I can see that whoever had it before me put in a non-standard fuel pressure regulator so I'm guessing that this is running too high?

  • Audi A4 (1995 - 2000) - 1996 1.8 Temperature sender 21 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Whilst poking around the water temperature sender I noticed a second plug hanging loose. I couldn't see where this might have come out from, but Haynes manual mentions fuel injection temperature sensor. If this has indeed fallen out would the car run OK? It seems to be fine, but fuel consumption is a bit more than I might expect ( low to mid 30's per gallon) Engine is ADR

  • Toyota Carina E 25 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Thoughts on the suitability of a 1996 Toyota Carina E, 1.8 CD, 5 door for a 150 mile per day mainly motorway commute please. Actual fuel economy from owners, common faults and questions to ask seller. Also what to look for due to it having a towbar fitted that has been used to pull a caravan. Got some great info from a previous thread regarding what to look for on the used market and am looking for fuel economy, reliability and comfort (decent drivers seat!!)
  • Renault Trip computer 28 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Unlike Jermy Klaxon and the late lamented Adam, i'm not keen on running on fumes, so last night on the way home I was not happy when the range on the trip computer dropped from 62 miles to zero in the space of less than a mile. Has anybody else experienced this - the car is a Megane 1.5 dci. I understand that fuel consumption varies and that such things have limitations, but to change from having 60+ miles of fuel and 'none' in the length of a motorway slip road is a bit disconcerting ! -- Go on, get out of the car... http://www.mikes-walks.co.uk
  • Escort Juddering/Kangarooing 2 Nov 2006 (Forum)
It is a intermittent problem but now getting worse. Over the course of this problem, have changed the Cat, Fuel filter, Fuel tank, Spark plugs and changed the Lambda Sensor. Without hooking it up for diagnosis, does anyone have any other idea what the problem could be or is diagnosis the only answer? As this is only intermittent, would diagnosis pick it up?
