  I am looking for a used SUV automatic petrol preferably. Looking for a 3 year old car and would like to keep for at least 7 years. My question is what cars and auto transmission types are more reliable in the long run? Do CVTs do better than the DSGs? Or the conventional torque converters are better suited?

  I have a T registration Toyota Corolla 19 years old, automatic with just over 103,000 miles on the clock. I'm told that with older cars, even reliable cars like mine, which is in excellent condition, that a regular service is not that important and to just fix things,  as and when they need doing.

   There are still 5mm of tread left, car is 2.5 years old. Tyres of Conti PC 2s Do I need these changing too?  And why is there only cracking on the rears?

  What's the thinking on theBMW z3model.I have a almost mint condition 17 year old 1.9 petrol manual in Atlanta blue with 51'000 miles same as the Goldeneye car except with black leather instead of tan.I don't use the car much and I was thinking to sell but I am wondering if it's value may increase and would I regret it just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or info about current or future z3 values.Thanks Mark

  Daihatsu make some great cars based on old Toyota technology. Hopefully Daihatsu will be sold in the UK again and get full coverage through the existing Toyota dealership network. If this happens, you can say goodbye to Dacia's runaway success.

  A family member of mine has a 10 month old Maza 2 - bought from new. During the recent freezing weather we have noticed that in the mornings there is a layer of ice on the inside of the windscreen. Is this something that should happen on a newish car?

  I was thinking of buying a 1-2 year old petrol qashqai +2 for my dogs as i like the boot room, driving position and space. However i've read some dire reviews of the car with numerous problems. I was wondering if anyone had an independent opinion (unlike the cut and paste what car, auto expres etc) opinion or even better experience of a +2 petrol model.

   Having a discussion with my friendly local dealer last night after I took him two colleagues who both bought cars on my recommendation, and they have considered trading out every diesel car brought in as a PX if it is not sold and previously serviced by them. Must admit, have chickened out and sold my 3 and a bit year old dpf/dmf fitted diesel, beforeencountering problems, but got fed up of the regualr expensive additional oil and filter changes.

  Quite fancied a 2 year old A5 as my next car, but speaking with a couple of reputable used car dealers, it would appear that modern Audis are not as wise a buy as you may first think. One of the dealers simply won't entertain selling any Audis from the past 3 years.

  Those that have an avensis (old shape) - what are your opinions on the car? Is the 114bhp adequate for a car this size? What mileage is your's on? Likes/dislikes? I have a mate selling his avensis - 03/53 plate with104k on the clock and FSH - and he's letting me have it at a knock-down price Although I love my (petrol) mazda 6 - looking at the fuel saving with this avensis is making it tempting for me (I do 22k miles a year)

  HI, I started to look at Bmw 335's and noticed that there are a large number of them for sale, and looking at honest john auction seem to be going through the auctions quite low. I assum then that would you expect that the price of these cars to drop in value, as you talking £13-15k for a 3 to 4 year old car? I appreciate your thoughts   BBQ

  The Seat dealership is advising me that as my car is 4 years old it needs to have it's belts (cam, auxiliary(??), water pump etc) changed. The price is considerable but my main concern is the possible damage to the engine if I don't get it done. The car has done less than 28k miles so does it need to be done now or can it wait and for how long?

  Does anyone have any advice about loud crack type noises that seem to come from the dashboard or windscreen struts of the convertible we have just bought? It is a BMW series 1 car and the noises are quite disconcerting when driving over a bump or going round doundabouts? It is mainly in the first 10 miles of driving a journey and the car is only about 10 months old.

  I would like to change the oil in the gearbox, transfer box and 2 diffs on the above car .It is 8 years old and has covered 75K. I cannot find any information on the grades and capacities for this car does nobody change these oils in this day and age, Years ago Casrol used to supply a chart giving all this gen for most vehicles.

  I passed a Toyota dealer near me in Darlington this morning that had a massive banner on the front stating that it offered the scrappage scheme on cars just 7 years old. I could have traded my Astra G in for that had I held onto it for a bit longer however it was a perfectly good car, it didn?t need scrapping ? I think it?s a bit to soon What do other BR?
