  • Ford Fiesta: 2001 1.25 Zetec - Timing Belt Tensioner, change of design? 21 Aug 2010 (Forum)
However the replacement that came with the kit from Unipart does not have the adjustable slot, just a hole and no way of adjusting the tension ( I presume it does it automatically as you release the pin?)  Is the one in the kit ok to fit as when I queried the difference at the shop I got it from the guy said 'it must be the right one, it's the only one listed'. Thanks for your help,

  • Skoda Felicia (1995 - 2000) - 1999 1.3 intemitent starting problem 1 May 2009 (Forum)
when the car starts its on the button but when its playing up its in the hands of the gods. i feel its a problem with the automatic choke but am not 100%. when it wont start: i turn the key and it starts but cuts out, i then have to remove the key and start again, sometimes if i put it in gear and turn the key ( start it in gear ) it starts and keep running, when it is running its a bit lumpy sounding and when i clutch and brake to come to a stop the revs drop to 500 from 750, sometimes thay drop to 400 and the car cut out but thats when the engines cold. the plugs are good and the ignition is good, the engine has only done 32000 when its hard to start and it starts the smell of fuel is heavy and if i stall the engine and try to restart it it hesitates like its flooded. there is no plug in diagnostics and cant afford a mechanic and cant afford to buy a throttle body and thats not the problem.

  • BMW - Buying a 2001 BMW, what are the catches?? 24 Dec 2008 (Forum)
HI First post here, I am considering spending £3-4k on a automatic estate for driving up and down the motorway with family (3 of us are currently in a 3 door polo, I have not bought a car in a LONG time). I am looking for something enjoyable and have been considering BMW 3 or 5 series.
  • Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 2002 2.0 Air Con Unit controls - lighting up? 16 Dec 2008 (Forum)
However when I go to the car of a morning, start it up and put the lights on every thing works, the LCD displays, radio buttons etc light up - but none of the controls or buttons on the Automatic Air Conditioning unit light up. I am having to feel the contols as I am driving if I want to boost the heater or switch on the rear demister etc. Should all of the buttons and contols light up or is this a design fault?
  • Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 06 1.8 help with timing belt on Z18 XER engine. 11 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Sounds like it was in the area of the exhaust cam variator so changed the variator and the idler wheel. This noise only comes on when its hot and as the tensioner is a simple automatic one now, you can't over tighten the belt. Any info or ideas would be appreaciated. or if anyone has paperwork for changing the belt as its too new for my autodata disc. Many thanks Davey slt - e-mail address removed to prevent harvesting
  • Dad finally considering a new ( his last ) car 24 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Essentially, what he wants to do is replace his with a car that will eventually be used by both my mum and him when they go to one car in about 5 years. What he has asked is what can he get that has decent load capacity, cruise control, automatic and air con, but with as low as possible CO2 and decent mpg? He doesnt want to spend more than 15k if he can help it but would like a longish warranty. My first instinct was a Kia Ceed estate although not sure if you can get the auto/cruise on the diesel.

My 1.4 106 automatic multi-point injection failed its MOT on emissions - it's used mainly for local journeys. The mechanic said he would clean the Lambda sensor and that I should take it for a high speed run which I did.
  • What & where to get quality brand Dexron III 15 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Can anyone tell me what is a good quality brand of Dexron III transmission fluid ? we have several automatic cars at home, and I wanted to change hte fluid on a regular basis to prolong the life of the gearboxes, as its simple to do. Halfords only sell Comma Dexron III in decent sized (5litre) bottles.

  • Auto. Car for under £1500 5 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Hi, I have around £1500 to spend on a car. It MUST be automatic and I'd prefer a hatchback over a saloon. Something with a little bits of guts too...I don't want any 1L cars. If I can get one with less than 750000miles too, that would be great. Two cars that I'm looking at the moment are: 1. 2000 Nissan Almera 3dr hatch 1.8SE 60000miles.

I just bought a Mercedes C180 automatic, when starting in the morning it is very sluggish. The first 3 times you start it cuts off straightaway, then the tickover is lumpy and the engine misfires. If you put your foot on the gas pedal it sometimes does not rev up.

  • Audi A6 2.5 TDI locking problem 29 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Could it just be a bad socket connection or I suspect there may be a system where in the event of an accident, the central locking would unlock all doors automatically upon impact and there may be a problem with such a system. I do not know where the central locking module is in this car. Any ideas would be appreciated. Regards, Michael
  • Vauxhall Astra Head Gasket problem 23 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Hello all, I bought a automatic X-reg Vauxhall Astra from an independent dealer back in March which included a 3 month warranty from the garage. Unfortunately today the head gasket has gone, I know nothing about cars so don't know if this is something that I've done or could've prevented but it's too late now anyway!
