  • Who was driving? 15 Oct 2008 (Forum)
NIP only allows you to say you were or were not driving; doesn't accomodate a "don't know" scenario. What can/should she do? Thanks in advance.......
  • Retaking driving test for a bet 20 Jun 2008 (Forum)

  • Driving Test Question 18 May 2006 (Forum)
According to an email I have been sent, this question has just been added to the driving theory test. There is only one answer, do you know it? Driving Test Question You are driving along a two lane road with a NO OVERTAKING sign, and come upon a bicycle rider. Do you follow this slow-moving bicycle rider for the next 2 miles, or do you break the law and pass?
  • Drink Driving 9 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Driving home the other night, just as i passed my local at 11.15pm a man pulled out of the pub carpark right in front of me, and then proceeded to drive at a steady 15 mph for the next two miles (30 limit) before pulling into his driveway.
  • Is front wheel drive obsolete? 30 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I have a FWD car and I love my car. It is great fun to drive. But I know it would be even more fun to drive if it were rear wheel drive. Now that many cars are going AWD and most of the cars that are RWD offer traction control, is FWD a dinosaur? Why would you need FWD when you could have the same thing in RWD with TC.
  • Insurance and self driving 12 Sep 2021 (Forum)
Having just renewed my insurance policy and deciding to go with another company, I was reading my policy documents ( as I’m sure everyone on here does) when I came to a section about automated self driving cars, it says I won’t be covered if I have an accident if the car is driving itself, I don’t have a self driving car, or do I.?, my car can park itself, either reversing into a space ( used it twice) or parallel parking ( not tried it) , now I still have to use the accelerator and brake but the car does everything else, now is this classed as self driving, yes I know it’s only parking, but if I have an accident and have to claim whilst using this feature would I be covered..?
  • Unsuitable parking 31 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I live up a road where there is houses up until a certain point only up on side of the road, about 6 houses down there is now houses opposite, but a person living at the house who's right on the end of the opposite side of the road, has around 6 cars, their drive can only occupy 2 cars. The thing that has really annoyed me lately, is that their cars that they can't fit onto the drive they park opposite the drive of my house, so that it is obstructing me from getting out of my drive.
  • Any - Driving on winter tyres - what to expect? 7 Dec 2010 (Forum)
The tyre test results give useful info, but do not include a 'living with' report - for instance, will I be able to drive normally if driving on snowy road (OK perhaps not at 70 mph, say 40 - 50 mph).  In some user posts I read of driveways that become usable again, but there is more to driving than setting out from home.
  • Driving in Italian lakes - tips?? 28 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Right, this Friday I'm jetting off to Milan for a mini Italian road trip to take in some sights and cool drives. I hope to hire something like an Alfa 147 if possible. I'm going from Bergamo to Como, then staying at Lezzeno. Next, driving across to Garda staying at Desenzano del Garda, finally driving down to Maranello to check out the Ferrari factory, and staying in Salsomaggiore Terme, before flying back from Parma.
  • Volvo Freedom Test Drives 14 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Firstly, I've no connection with Volvo, but thought I should publicise their Freedom test drive event because it was very quiet there today - I had a great time driving various Volvo's around Hampshire. They allow you to take your selection (pre book 2, but if available, others on the day) away for 30 mins which means you get a great chance to really give the cars a proper test drive.

  • Corolla vvti aux drive belt whine 21 Apr 2005 (Forum)
My 1.4 Corolla has developed a whine fro the engine; according to the garage that checked it, due to the aux drive belt having some wear. Question - is it safe to continue running the engine ? They reckon the aux drive belt only connects the power steering pump and alternator. It's done 150K now.
  • Compulsory driving tests every 5 years? 19 May 2004 (Forum)
Failures to undergo some compulsory re-training? It would cost a lot to carry out and administer, but if it makes for better driving standards, that's fine by me. Drivers should bear the real cost themselves - they owe it to themselves, their families and their fellow citizens. Would create a load of new employment too. It seems daft, today, that you can pass a driving test at 17, and that's you enttled to drive (apart from on health grounds and motoring convictions) till your dotage.

Hi, Is there a formal process of complaining about bad driving. This happened when someone just cut in front of me, very closely. Or should i just bear it silently. Thanks

  • Are you a 'driving passenger'? 29 May 2007 (Forum)
I was wondering how many backroomers still 'drive' the car in which they are a passenger. Does your foot occasionally head instinctively for a non-existent brake pedal?
