  • focus tdi economy problems? 4 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I do about 90 - 130 miles per day round trip which consists of about 10 - 15 miles of a roads and the rest is motorway at about 85mph. Does 38mpg sound reasonable to any other focus diesel owners out there? FYI jan 2000 V reg focus ghia tdi estate, 107,000 miles - full lease company service and parts history. also i've heard about a few devices to improve economy and or power / performance. first is ProZone FuelSaver in-line fuel magnetiser/catalyst/fuel swirl device: http://www.fuelsaver.co.uk/faqs.htm other is a much cheaper alternative homemade version which is simply a screwdriver magnetiser clipped around your fuel line near fuel pump to magnetise the fuel.

  • Honda UK - Where did it all go wrong? 22 May 2009 (Forum)
Insight - A Prius-facsimile, deliberately manufactured to be cheaper and scarcely more economical than it's petrol and diesel-powered rivals. Hardly 'The Power of Dreams'. FR-V - Decent but again, a dated car, have you ever been in the front centre seat of one? It's comfortable but disconcerting to have no window beside you, no dashboard in front of you and no sense of protection.
  • Skoda Yeti 140 ks 4x4 or Honda CR-V 2.0 150 ks? 24 Nov 2011 (Forum)
But im thinking about 4x4 version, Experience and 2.0 140 ks version. If i put similar equpment as CR-V, i have almost same price between two . With same price CR-V have parking sensors and leather/alcantara seats , and Yeti dont have parking sensors and have fabric seats, and CR-V have better audio (becouse of subwoofer and better highs).
  • Peugeot 3008 1.2 - should the low mileage be a worry? 22 Oct 2024 (Forum)
Does anyone think that the low mileage might be an issue or just check for engine management lightsand fill her up with v-Power and give her a good blast if I buy her?? (Obviously there will be a warranty too) I'm just worried that the wow factor with this car (interior and exterior) is leading me into a heart over head scenario!
  • 200 miles and dead plugs on a 306 28 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I have a Peugeot 306 1.8 Meridien, 2000 'V' reg with 83000 miles on the clock. I recently had a full service performed including new spark plugs. The first time I drove the car after the service was a 300 mile motorway trip. The first 150 miles were fine with no problems - then the car suddenly developed a problem with lack of power and jerky acceleration.
  • Why rev counters? 28 Aug 2002 (Forum)
It is very powerful and lays good rubber when floored but that's torque, not revolutions. Apart from looking nice and balancing up the dash layout, along with confusing some others who shall be nameless ("Babes, which one of these two is it again that says how fast you're going?"
  • Which small used car <£5000? 27 Apr 2014 (Forum)
I don't think VW's reputation for manufacturing bullet proof cars is what it once was.  I haven't suggested fiestas as there's v few of the newer models for sale around my way (NE England). There's plenty of Mk5s (The ones that look like a small Focus) but I just hate the look of them. The newer ones tho look great. The newer Seat Ibizas look tasty, but again seems v few for sale around my way.
  • Honda Accord Tourer (2003 - 2008) - Misfuelling - how to prove a negative? 13 Feb 2008 (Forum)
s proving a negative, and we all know that can?t be done. The only thing in my favour is that the last tank of Shell V-Power ran to 55.5 litres in a 65 litre tank, and I drive 60 miles before it hit problems. But, I?m now seriously worried and would appreciate all advice on what to do. Get an independent sample of the fuel from the tank ASAP?
  • Vauxhall Corsa C - Corsa C won’t start first attempt, but will second 28 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Couple of weeks ago I’d neglected to do this, driving out of work notice a complete loss of power. Pull over, oils barely registering on the dipstick. Top her up, and this loss of power continues, for the next week or so until I could get her into the garage. Felt like I was in 5 th when I was in 2 nd (after about 2000RPM) – to give you an idea of the power loss.

  • Looking for a new Compact SUV 4 Oct 2020 (Forum)
I'd appreciate thoughts if the higher purchase price is worth it? I was looking at the Honda HR-V and although it has some good points the reviewers are not as sold on it. The underpowered CVT being chief among them (an issue I also have with the Jazz). Also the entertain/control system isn't great.
  • audi S3 black edition(2011) manual - your Audi S3 road test 25 Mar 2011 (Forum)
The performance is quite frankly astounding for the price - as you recommended we only run it on V-power and it seems to be getting faster and faster as the engine loosens - the current A3 is due to be replaced next year and they now do a 40k RS version - my audi dealer(who has driven one ) tells me it's not as good as the S3 as it's only marginally quicker and the ride is awful - also it's auto only.
  • Ford Ka2 - Are Ford being helpful? 7 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I feel this is unacceptable, i have had the battery loaded tested by two independant garages and neither of them can find a problem with it.  The battery is always above 12 v when cranking and when the engine is running it is receiving a 14V charge from the alternator. Ford have basically said they are unwilling to support this problem until my Mum pays them £105 for fitting a new battery.

  • Toyota Avensis (2003 - 2008) - Diesel fuel economy - what's happening? 8 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I thought it must be my style of driving - heavyish right foot - and so I tried to baby it along: gentle acceleration, smooth driving, hardly any above 70 mph. Result: 43 mpg, brim-to-brim. Which is crepe. So I filled up with Shell V-Power. (Not sure it made any difference to anything.) Pootling at an indicated 70 (slightly over 66 mph according to the computer) on the M6 Saturday afternoon, and using the computer (I know, I know) I seemed to be getting about the same 40-ish mpg.

  • Vauxhall - Camshaft snapped on Vauxhall Tigra 27 Oct 2010 (Forum)
I was in the fast lane of a very busy motorway doing about 70ish on Friday when the engine started to lose power rapidly so I pulled over to the hardshoulder and called recovery. Have had no warning lights come on prior to the actual moment when the car started to lose power and then the engine management light came on - a slightly sooner warning would have been nice!!!
