  • Citroen Despatch (2007 - ) - 02 2.0HDi Excessive fuel comsumption low temp 8 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I have brought a citroen dispatch in december 2.0l HDI, I am only doing roughly 30-35 miles on £10 of diesel, i have changed the fuel filter, glow plugs, thermostat and the expansion bottle cap due to it getting warm either? the van sits at 70degrees and takes a while to get to this roughly 5-8 miles. The van starts and drives good plenty of power and no smoke, i have had the van on a scanner and the only code was P1108 which is to do with the fan i believe.
  • Rover 75 (1999 - 2005) - 2002 2.0 Dies Not starting when stopped after shor 30 Oct 2008 (Forum)
My 75 diesel on 2 occassions with more than 1000 miles between has refused to start after short 10 minute stop. I have removed the inlet to the filter turned the ignition until fuel flowed, and then the outlet from the filter and after getting fuel to flow replaced the pipe, and the engine fired first time and ran perfect.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 03 TDCi - Fuel Pump problem ? 19 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I have a 53 reg diesel mondeo (26000 miles only) which is having problems similar to sootyboy's car. My car just cuts out intermittently and this always happens at low speed, mostly while i am approaching a roundabout or traffic signals.
  • Multipla Jtd. Wrong fuel put in. 24 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Hello all, this isn't a new problem I know but some reassurance (hopefully) wouldn't go amiss. My dearly beloved somehow, though we've had nought but diesels for the last 5 or so years, managed to put unleaded in our 03 reg Multipla Jtd. She drove until the engine began to miss-fire then called me and asked, "Should I turn it off then?". Anyhow we got it recovered to a garage flushed and re-fuelled all sems well, so my question is this-should I expect premature failiure of the fuel pump as many commontators (inc our beloved Honest John) would have me believe?
  • Astra 1.7TD 1998 - Fuel leak 7 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Hi, Just got back from a shopping trip and noticed my car smelling strongly of diesel. Opened the bonnet to find fuel all over the engine bay. On turning the key, it is spraying out of one of the glow-plug housings. The last (or first depending on how you look at it!) glow plug has only one line into it, whereas all the others have (I assume) an in and out feed.
  • Saxo fuel filter 30 Dec 2001 (Forum)
The service also calls for a new fuel filter. This looks an absolute pig to get to, so before I splash out on a new one, is it easier than it looks to remove without causing permanant wrist damage and will the system need bleeding after replacement?

  • Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - 01 1.9 dti - possible change of engine 20 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I currently have a 51 plate Renault Scenic with 1.9 dTi engine. It has what I believe is a problem with the fuel pump or system, and so is a bad starter. The car itself I like (much moreso that the 2003 onwards shape scenic that I have test driven and even more than current or previous Espace models) as I find it very comfortable to sit in and believe it has a good driving position, and I've had this idea that if I'm going to spend £500 on a new fuel pump (which may or may not cure the fault) there is an argument for saying why don't I spend an amount on a new engine (I wish to stick with diesel).
  • New Honda Civic (Diesel) 20 May 2006 (Forum)
C class estate is quite appealing, but is probably a bit too pretentious for my job (I'm a self employed specialist electronic engineer and work on-site a lot) and the smaller diesels are not over fuel efficient. I do not like the look of the BMW 3 series. The Honda Accord diesel has fantastic reviews, but the estate is REALLY ugly (IMO). So today by chance, I see the new Civic in a Honda showroom and all of a sudden I think "do I need all the space that my current Passat offers"?
