  1994 Astra Turbo diesel hatchback, car has a genuine 30,000 miles backed up by mot`s and service history . The car has had one owner from new , im trying to find the price out for a good friend of mine . Can anyone assist please ???

  Hi, Mind I ask if your 2.0 Mondeo had the new or old engine? I think the new engine is from S-reg onwards but not 100% sure. Also, can you confirm if the new 2.0 engine has hydraulic tappets or mechanical tappets? Thank you very much, Garrison

  My '92 518's rear offside door no longer "centrally locks"; the solenoid doesn't click. I've taken the door panel off (!) and everthing looks intact. Can anyone tell me if there is a relay for the central locking and if so where I can find it?

  I drove the car again for about 10 miles up dual carriage way and a little bit of B roads. I understand that new discs and pads get hot but this was ridiculous compared to the O/S which was luke warm.   The next stage having agreed with my mechanic is to see how they bed in over the weekend, to no avail. I have looked through the cars history, and have noticed that it has had issues with the same front N/S brakes before.

  I am reasonably mechanically minded and have checked this on the net including this site and basically I have eliminated most common causes.. 1) Both drive shafts have been replaced with new ones (the n/s driveshaft had a knackered cv joint) 2) Both bottom arms have been replaced with new (o/s balljoint had slight play) 3) New discs & pads been fitted I have even tried swapping both front hubs from one of my mates who runs a scrappy to eliminate wheel bearing problems and they seem fine.

  I`ve been aware of people surrounding me, in public, for many decades now - the work  just made you like that and the tendency was strengthened  by travelling  in South East Asia. It`s intrusive at first, but then becomes second nature as you scan the pavement in front for familiar faces, and certain characteristics - the awareness of what`s behind you and the right angle turn as an unknown potential threat closes in on you from behind.

  My Sister in Law's husband used to be a foreman in a well-known Merseyside car factory in the 1970's. He died some years ago and my sister in law and I were reminiscing the other evening. She told me the following stories. I thought that they might amuse forum members. It was quite usual for a car to be specially made for a manager or supervisor.
