Correct spelling of place names? 8 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Road maps give the spelling of a village near Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire as Theddlethorpe St Helen, but local road signs have an "s" added at the end, i.e. Theddlethorpe St Helens. Which is correct, and who is the definitive authority on the spelling of place names? L'escargot by name, but not by nature. -

BMW central locking relay 19 Jun 2002 (Forum)
My '92 518's rear offside door no longer "centrally locks"; the solenoid doesn't click. I've taken the door panel off (!) and everthing looks intact. Can anyone tell me if there is a relay for the central locking and if so where I can find it? -

Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDi - Brake problems Audi A4 B6 1.9TDI 3 Oct 2019 (Forum)
I drove the car again for about 10 miles up dual carriage way and a little bit of B roads. I understand that new discs and pads get hot but this was ridiculous compared to the O/S which was luke warm. The next stage having agreed with my mechanic is to see how they bed in over the weekend, to no avail. I have looked through the cars history, and have noticed that it has had issues with the same front N/S brakes before. -
Ford Mondeo MK2 - Mondeo MK2 can feel knocking through brake pedal 1 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I am reasonably mechanically minded and have checked this on the net including this site and basically I have eliminated most common causes.. 1) Both drive shafts have been replaced with new ones (the n/s driveshaft had a knackered cv joint) 2) Both bottom arms have been replaced with new (o/s balljoint had slight play) 3) New discs & pads been fitted I have even tried swapping both front hubs from one of my mates who runs a scrappy to eliminate wheel bearing problems and they seem fine. -
Street robbery - pavement people assessment 14 Jun 2011 (Forum)
I`ve been aware of people surrounding me, in public, for many decades now - the work just made you like that and the tendency was strengthened by travelling in South East Asia. It`s intrusive at first, but then becomes second nature as you scan the pavement in front for familiar faces, and certain characteristics - the awareness of what`s behind you and the right angle turn as an unknown potential threat closes in on you from behind. -

My most enduring apprentice, how`s yours? 11 Feb 2008 (Forum)

General Motors is in talks with Renault and Nissan about striking such a venture to help to turn round GM?s operations. Jaguar revenue has plunged in the past two years, despite a boom in global luxury car sales. It is estimated that the company sold 41,000 Jaguars in the first half of 2006, compared with 118,000 in 2004.
