The budget 14 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Here goes... 2p on unleaded 3p on diesel VAT up to 19% - which adds yet more your fuel and your purchase / running costs. Road Fund licences up 10%. All "to fund the NHS" which now spends something like 55% of it's revenues on administration. -
LPG 4 Feb 2002 (Forum)
i am due to change a company car in the next few months. I have mostly driven diesels but am considering a Volvo LPG. Does anyone have any real experience of the savings possible? Also is there a web site for LPG which lists where fuel is available Dominic -
Vauxhall Astra F (1991 - 1998) - 96 1.7 Diesel. Wierd fault: fuel stop / cut off so 28 Nov 2009 (Forum)
My neighbour's 1996/7 Astra 1.7 TD has a strange problem developing (I think!), related to the fuel cut-off solenoid(s?) on the fuel pump. He has had difficult cold starting, (turning over for ages, unevenly, then eventually starting with a cloud of smoke and still uneven for a few seconds), so I checked the glow plug feed / timer, and then replaced the glow plugs. -

Ford Mondeo - Mondeo 2003 2.0 TDCI fuel problem, 2 May 2011 (Forum)
i managed to get the car towed back to a yard and take off what was a suspected fuel filter problem then put a air hose through it to clean it out, replaced this and tried to get the car running. no joy as the fuel looks to not being pulled through. so put the air hose through the petrol cap entry and blast the petrol through the filter while the middle connector on filter was off and diesel streamed out very well. -

Jaguar X-Type Estate (2004 - 2007) - 04 2.0D Engine cuts out..... 20 Oct 2017 (Forum)
My brother has a Jaguar X-Type 2.0 diesel. Just last week it cut out and he thought it had run out of fuel because it was low. He filled it up and it started straight away. He thought that was that until it happened again after about 25 miles. -
Vauxhall Zafira dti - Starting issue when left over night facing uphill 13 Jun 2014 (Forum)
When it is left facing uphill over night it doesn't seem to want to start in the morning too the point where the battery goes flat, I presume the fuel is draining back to the tank due to a air leak. I have changed the leak off pipes (but not the t-pieces as they where not brittle and seemed ok), changed the top injector seals, nipped the banjos on the diesel pump and injector pipes, changed the fuel filter and both housing seals and it is still the same.. -
SEAT Ibiza - Put diesel into petrol engine by mistake - please 2 Feb 2015 (Forum)
She called out the AA who drained out all the diesel and put in enough petrol to get her home. She tells me that the chap from the AA made a passing remark saying that it would be a good idea to get the fuel filter changed asap. -
Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe - Mercedes Classs Coupe Petrol or Diesel 3 May 2013 (Forum)
Right, Need some advice is possible please I want to buy a 2nd hand C-Class coupe and am looking at newer versions with higher mileage. Previously I have always been told diesels go forever etc but what about petrols? The extra cost of buying a diesel for the miles I do would take my about 10 years to get back in fuel economy but not too sure if getting a petrol with 80K on the clock is a good idea? -

Mitsubishi Shogun Equippe Diesel 2007 - Gone into limp home mode for 5th time 19 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Once again the car's off the road and the unhelpfully vague Mitsubishi dealer can't reset or fix it for a week. I suspect something else - if it happens again the car will be sold - has anyone any pointers? Diesel fuel? Additives? Injectors or sensors? Thanks for any ideas! - ALAN -
Diesel / Convertible / 4X4 what's out there 29 Jul 2010 (Forum)
A good friend of mine at work is wanting to get rid of her Mercedes SLK. She still wants a convertible (could be a soft top though), she wants a diesel this time around for better fuel economy, the car needs to be about the same size (an A5 would be too big), it needs to be automatic and finally (and this is where I'm stuck), it needs to be a quattro / 4 wheel drive. -
Choosing a diesel - What Mazda6 size car ? 31 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I'm a high mileage driver and currently run a Honda Legend (yes, I know but it's comfortable and easy to drive) with 105,000 miles on the clock. I'm contemplating throwing in the towel for the Honda due to spiralling fuel costs and the fear of hefty repair bills as the mileage gets higher and opting for a diesel. Problem is, which diesel? My budget is limited to around £7k and I had thought of a Mazda or Ford but some of the posts on this website have put me off. -
The viability of a diesel? 29 May 2007 (Forum)
Folk in Birmingham are simple. Any help therefore appreciated. When looking for a dealer sourced diesel rep mobile with a decent warranty, the typical screen price is £1500 - £2000 more than the petrol variant. So, one needs to work out whether the premium is worth paying and whether the extra will be recouped through lower fuel bills over the life of the car. -
Volkswagen Passat - fuel economy for 2.0 litre Passat blue motion 19 Nov 2016 (Forum)
Hi I've just bought a 2012 Blue Motion Passat estate, the advertised figures are around 51mpg/61mpg/72mpg, However I'm personally struggling to get above an average max best of 48mpg from a mixture of motorway and town driving. A full tank of diesel is costing me around £85, for which I've just got 570 miles from full to empty, personally I was expecting quite a bit more, am I expecting too much?... Can other Passat drivers with a similar 2.0 litre blue motion engine let me know your experiences fuel wise?
