  The electrics malfunctioned and a loud banging noise could be heard when slowing down/applying breaks on the short journey home. The car was towed away a few days later as the battery had burnt out and without the battery being charged or replaced and the car being tested a repair estimate was submitted and approved. 4 weeks later the rear end repairs had been completed but unsurprisingly the car would not start.; a new battery was required as the battery would not charge.

  My 2002 Grand Voyager has been stood for a good few weeks over the Christmas and New Year period and i recently went start her up and take her for a drive but the battery was so flat there wasn't even a faint light on anywhere. so i removed the battery and took indoors and placed on charge for 24 hours, then fitted back onto the car, this is where the fun starts.........

  - alternator casing gets very hot soon after starting engine from cold (within 1 minute) - battery voltage is around 12.5v with ignition off, around 11.5v when engine running - car appears to drive and operate fine including air-con, power steering, etc, and battery warning light goes out after starting engine.

  The mechanic told me that moving the car short distances is not good for the car in col weather - yesterday was much warmer than on that occasion. S, two questions: Is the battery failing? Is there anything associated with the throttle body that might present a load to the main battery causing a drain? Thanks for any ideas.

  I am now looking for a replacement and one option is a nearly new CX-30 as I like the car very much. However, almost from new it has been exhibiting battery problems, specifically after cleaning it. Five or ten minutes with doors or tailgate open and it would not start again. This was not a case of the battery struggling to turn the engine, it was just totally dead.

  After a few miles the power seemed to return to normal, but when arriving at my destination the battery was totally flat. On taking the car to the garage we tested the alternator and teh battery and the alternator was broken. the battery was not holding any charge so we changed it. The car was fine, until 150 miles later when exactly teh same thing happened again.

  Hi - my daughter's car has no power - central lockiing does not work, no lights on dashboard and engine will not turn over.  Tried to jump start it and nothing happened - also tried to charge the battery, but the charger says the battery is fully charged.  We obviously can't get it to a garage for a mechanic to take a look - any ideas??

  THe Audi A4 SE 2001 key fob failed so I replaced the battery (CR2032) but it still did not work??? have 'adjusted the central (-ve) contacts, they mark the battery and the corner (+ve) contacts but have no way of knowing if the contacts are made. Is ther any re-coding or what to be done?

  Just bought Peugeot 306 xr,but the remote key does not work. Opened key up and replaced with new batteries,but still no joy. Should the led on the key remote light when button is pressed,or does it need to be programmed as new batteries fitted in remote.
