Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - 99 1.6 failing to start MK 1 10 Jan 2010 (Forum)
As I was driving the engine cut out and would not start, there were no problems prior. I have checked the fuel pump (ok) plugs are wet with fuel after turning over, TDC sensor has been changed fuel cut off switch changed. The coil pack is on top of the rocker cover and is the next thing I am looking at, there is a yellow spark (should it be blue) I? -
Peugeot 405 Diesel (1988 - 1996) - Year unknown TD - Fuel starvation - won't idle 22 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The probelm seems to be far worse when the engine is completely cold. When priming you can hear the fuel flowing into the filter chamber. The filter was changed three days ago, and has made no difference. It is running on veg oil/diesel, mixed, but this problem has only recently occurred, after several months of veg oil use. -

Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 99 1.25 lack of power / drinking fuel 30 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Seems to take ages to build up any momentum and struggles to get over 70mph. Have to drive with foot on the floor to get speed up and it's drinking an outrageous amount of fuel. When at around 70mph on flat road revs are at approx 3.5k but engine sounds like it's revving much higher. Driving up hill is awful, takes forever to get anywhere New coil pack about 18 months ago but hasn't had a service since December '06. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 97 1.9D Turns over but fails to start 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Engine has been difficult to start recently but when it does everything runs fine and it will start and stop for the rest of the day but like most of us doesn't like mornings. I have proved fuel to injector pump and battery is fully charged, fuel is getting to cylinders as when it does start there is an environmentally damaging cloud out the back end initially. Engine is definately free to turn and will do on attempting to start - it sounds as if it wants to fire but won't. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 04 1.8 Slightly Poor Fuel Consumption 18 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Now I am getting a max of 27 MPG. I have had an engine tuning (proper tuning, not boy racer job) to try and improve the fuel economy. The ECU settings were changed and new spark plugs were fitted. It has made a different to engine, feels a lot smoother, but the economy hasn't really changed. Anyone got any tips of what modifications i could possibly do to improve the economy. -

Fuel efficiency of older diesel cars 8 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I was looking up the fuel efficiency for older diesel cars for city driving and on a site selling old LTI fairway taxis I came up with a figure of 25 - 30mpg in town for a 2.7 litre diesel. Now I don't know if this means stop and start traffic driving or driving at 30 MPH, but this is roughly the same as I get from my old Golf, which is a 1.3 litre petrol. -

Peak Oil 1 May 2008 (Forum)
There is a crisis imminent unless we get our heads out of the sand, recognise it and do something about it and quick. Apart from the article above (written by an American) other reasons to economise fuel use on all fronts ie domestic too: global warming do our bit to help the balance of trade fuel security (less reliant on imports) -
Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - '00 1.8 petrol - faulty fuel gauge? 15 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Got scared out of my wits this morning on the way to work as suddenly the fuel gauge crept down to empty from just over a quarter of a tank in a period of less than 30 seconds. I gritted my teeth and waited for the car to start spluttering as the light came on but it kept on going, which I suppose was a relief! -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 2003 1.6 dualfuel - Poor running at speed. 27 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Manufacturer: Vauxhall. Model: Astra. Type: Estate. Fuel: Dual fuel - LPG/Petrol. Trim: Elegance. Engine: 1600cc. Registered: 2003. Mileage: 52k. Petrol or LPG at a flat 60 to 70 the engine is juddering - as if fuel is getting cut off and released. This is not just after filling with LPG either as the dealership in question have told me this is the cause as the gas is too cold?! -

Peugeot originally said it needed a new ecu, had that sent off and checked at the ecu doctor, very helpful, was running in another car perfectly. They now reckon that there are bits floating round in the fuel system and say its gonna cost another £2500!!!!!!!! Already spent £2000Anyone get any ideas of what to do as i havent really got much money left? Can i flush the system out? Many thanks slight tweak to subject line - PU No need to keep re-posting - duplicate posts deleted. _ PU -

Was I suffering from waxing of the fuel? I have often heard of this term, but never personally experienced it. Thanks for any help -
VW Polo Pierburg Choking 10 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I have benn all over it like a rash, with electrical testing and strippping it down etc, I have even swapped it with a scrap yard 1B but still no fuel. Is the fuel supposed to drip down from the jet that comes up from the reservoir and appears out of the top of the body and hooks over the choke flap? If it is, neither of my carbs do it...I cannot fathom what pushes fuel up the jet as it appears to just dangle in the reservoir. -
Audi A6 2.6SE - will not start 27 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I had a mess around with her yesturday by... 1 - checked all the fuses & relays (swapping with some out of a breakers yard) 2 - plenty of fuel in her - I checked the pressure at the fuel filter & there's plenty of fuel squirting out ! 3 - checked the spark plugs & there is no spark at the plugs. 4 - Checked the ignition modules at the front of the engine, but still no spark So I'm presuming that the gadjet that sends the spark to the plugs isn't working - what module sends the spar to the plugs ? -
Weired Golf GTI problem 3 Dec 2004 (Forum)
The symptoms are as follows: Hot engine (normal long run) under deceleration the car stops as if there is a fuel stoppage, in actual fact the fuel pump fuse has blown. When the fuse is replaced the car will start and run OK below 2000rpm. Above 2000rpm the fuse blows again! On both occasions it has gone to two different garages who disconnected the ECU and took it to VW to test out. -

Ford Mondeo TDDi 2.0 90ps Tuning Box 18 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Also, it will instruct the ECU to inject more fuel during hard driving, consuming more mpgs, hence overall will be balanced out. Anyone has any experience on this product? Any problems associated with it? Engine integrities due to strain on fuel pump possible?
