  • Hidden Hero: Audi 90 1 Nov 2019 (News)
.  With a choice of 2.0 and 2.2-litre engines with two valves per cylinder, developing 113bhp and 134bhp respectively, the 90 still wasn’t quick, but it was peppier than the four-cylinder models, with a free-revving nature and seductive soundtrack.   The 90 was available as both a front-wheel-drive or Quattro 4WD-equipped model, the latter identifiable by its side graphics and slightly raised ride height.  In 1989, Audi gave the 90 a bit more poke with a new 2.3-litre 20-valve turbo engine, developing 170bhp and finally giving the car the vigour it deserved.
  • 'Urgent action' required to combat car tyre and brake dust pollution 11 Jul 2019 (News)
As a solution, the report suggests the Government should encourage use of public transport and cycling in a bid to tempt people away from using their cars. It also says drivers should be educated on the advantages of more efficient driving styles, which could reduce tyre wear. However, experts have warned that tackling these pollutants will be difficult - as it's not easy to measure how many of them are in the air. "The automotive industry is committed to improving air quality and has already all but eliminated particulate matter from tailpipe emissions," said Mike Hawes, chief executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

  • A Grand Monday: Morris Marina 1.3 11 Mar 2019 (News)
Launched in 1970, the Marina was British Leyland’s answer to the Ford Cortina, and unlike BL’s other family saloons, it was as traditional as they come. Rear-wheel-drive, with a choice of either the aged A-series or nearly as antiquated B-series engines, the Marina was a straightforward car - so straight forward, in fact, that it shared many of its underpinnings with the Morris Minor, a car that could trace its roots back to 1948.
  • A Grand Monday: Land Rover Discovery MPi 11 Feb 2019 (News)

It really was the Discovery that you only chose if you had to… As a result, uptake was slow.
