  Going to save you money in the real world. Seems an expensive car to start with and still needs servicing etc. Big downside for me is the battery pack...how much will that be and batteries always seem to deteriorate with time, wouldn't, that effect performance in general anyway. Any thought?

  My 1999 Vectra has no power. Battery is okay but there is no power to turn engine, no lights on dash, no central locking. It's as if the battery has been stolen. Fuses under the steering wheel seem okay. Is there another main fuse somewhere or a Relay?

  The next morning it started fine so I hoped all was well. 50 miles later in the rain after parking up for about 5 minutes the same thing happened. got a jump start and went home, about 5 minutes of driving and I hear the relays clicking like mad, power steering goes, no lights, no radio display, nothing. Car stalls and we coast into a layby. Again the battery is ready 4.7ish volts, slightly erracitcally so I guess the battery is naff. I figure that if there is a drain on the battery it should show a slightly higher reading when the positive lead is disconnected so I take that lead off and test the battery. 12.7 volts, perfectly full battery, that's not right....

Jump started it, went for a 20 minute drive to charge battery. Car drove as normal. No overheating issues or strange noises.     The sales assistant says that on a winter seasonal service they check all aspects of the battery and not just the terminals of the battery as in a full service.  He admitted that most of the other checks would be covered in the full service. I tell them to go ahead with it (!?) on the basis that the battery will be checked all over and not just the terminals.

  I have read recent post concerning the charging light coming on and that doesn't bother me too much but recently I pulled up at a petrol station and when I came back to the car I had nothing, the car was dead. The girl in the garage had a battery tester and that said the battery was ok so we changed the battery in the key fob thinking that may have been a problem but it was ok. A mechanic popped in with his booster pack and as soon as it was on the terminals the car came to life.

  A friend. let's call him Don, has a Renault Modus petrol automatic. At random, he will come out to it in the morning and find the battery flat or virtually flat; won't turn the starter motor anyway. A jumplead start and it will go, and be fine again for days/weeks. The alternator and battery have been checked by both the AA and the Renault dealer, but deemed fine.

   So Help Please  :-) Sister in Law has Mong Gayo 2.0 petrol on a 99 V plate. it has the smart charge system. Been having probs starting car. No previous warning with Battery lights or anything. The Battery light does as it should in the start up sequence .. If the Battery is removerd and charged overnight, the car will start and run to wherever u need to go.

  Interestingly, the radio/interior light circuit are also dead, but fuses are fine. He fitted a new stereo to it, but again said it was working fine before i took the battery off and recharged it. Any help gratefully received!! Thanks....Jon
