  Vehicle ran ok for about 2.5 hours then started to miss then cleared for about 10 miles then started to miss again then stopped completely , I have replaced fuel filter primed system at diesel pump I cracked injector pipe at injector although there is fuel there not sure of pressure can you advise thank you Terry

  Hi,   The above car has been diagnosed with a failed diesel fuel pump @ 90k. Does anyone know the approximate cost of repair and how much needs replacing? I have read that the injectors may well also need replacing due to metal being released when the pump failed and that this, along with the fuel pump, will make it an expensive job.

  Now (parked pointing uphill) the engine will start (after a lot of cranking) but stops practically straight away (there is half a tank of fuel). I tried pumping the little button above the fuel filter (I think Richard W gave advice on this before) and instead of being hard, was pumpable for at least 10 seconds. Does this mean there is an air leak?

  As a result of a problem with the power output of my car { not going into the turbo } I replaced the air filter and fuel filter, the car wont run now , but was starting fine prior to this. I have primed the fuel filter and the filter has definately got diesel in it. After attempting to start it by towing it as the battery is now flat, there is pressure in the system if I release one of the pipes off the filter.

  If you are thinking of buying a Mondeo diesel for its fuel economy, think again. I have just bought a new 2.0 TDCi Titanium X Estate fitted with a DPF, which will not achieve more than upper 30's mpg. The DPF has had an effect on fuel economy, so if you want a Mondeo IV diesel to get more MPG, at the moment it is best to go for the 1.8 TDCi which does not have the DPF as standard.

  My car sudderly started playing up on starting yesterday, needed churning over for long period befor firing up but then run absolutly fine. Today will not start at all. Have plenty of diesel  and fuel filter was chaanged less than 1K miles ago. I dissconnected fuel supply from inlet manifold heater and turned engine over, plenty of fuel coming thro line. Vehicle has only done 62K miles so guess injectors do not need changing, anyway this is so sudden.

  Using diesel fuel as a flushing oil, outcomes? I`ve heard about it for years and have always been horrified at the thought of the camlobe pressures (etc) when Derv is used as a flushing oil. But on another forum, someone has just run a petrol engine for 30mins at tickover on derv instead of engine oil with the oil pressure light on the whole time.

  The Vectra immediately returned to its good starting and smooth running. If my tank of ordinary Shell diesel contained water or particles then surely diluting it with 30 litres of fresh diesel wouldnt make the slightest difference. Ive generally used Shell fuels believing them to be one of the better brands but is this a quality problem or something else?

    Then try to fit an electrical inline fuel pump pre or post the fuel filter to present fuel to diesle pump.  Has anybody else done this and if so what pump was used, where fitted etc?  There are many on ebay fo £20-£30.
