• Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 98 1.9 Running fine, now won't start! 5 Feb 2010 (Forum)
  Until yesterday was running perfectly, put the rear heated screen on after starting yesterday morning and the radio went off. Little strange, but radio came back on after a second, so wasn't to concerned. Drove it about 40 miles, just switched to radio off to make sure. The dash needles flicked intermittantly and sometimes stuck in one position but the car ran fine.

  Hi folks, I've just bought a 1990 Golf II which needs a couple of things doing to it, but overall a nice car. First problem which is turning out harder than expected is the radio aerial. The previous owner replaced a broken aerial but didn't pull a piece of string through on the end of the cable, couldn't get the new cable back through, and gave up. So I now face the difficult job getting the cable of the new aerial from the plenum chamber through to the back of the radio.

  As the above, I fancy a DAB radio in the car but ideally would like it to be compatible with the OEM 6-CD changer under the passenger seat. Is this possible? Cheers, Allen

  --[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 Hi, just purchased an 02 Honda HRV with an after market radio, When I put the key into the ignition and switch on, MW is fine but when I turn the ignition further to start the car, all I get is a whining sound. Any ideas why?

  Whenever there is a road safety discussion on the radio (well BBC anyway) and TV the pressure group Brake is always invited on to comment, but why? It is obvious what their opinion will be, reduce speeds is their only solution to every motoring safety problem.

  [endif]--> My 2.0 VW Golf V TDI (2008) keeps cutting out when driving & idling. It then won't restart for a couple of minutes (no lights on the dash) but radio/heating fan still work.   Any suggestions as to what is causing this?

  Took the other half to work at 08 15 this morning, drove right across Blackpool. No evidence of gritting at all, zero. Local radio reporting numerous shunts on M55 and local roads. Roads were basically a skating ring, what is happening with local councils. Lack of funds or just dont read weather reports.

  Just heard on the radio M8 Eastbound is closed after junction 3 due to a burst water main from an adjacent field. At this stage it is looking possible that it will be closed all night and into the morning rush hour! Just in case anyone is planing to travel that route in the morning

  hi all does anybody know where the fuse is for a radio on a ka its not in the fuse box just beneath the steering wheel i think there must be another fuse box somewhere thanks. craig

  Given various threads here [Why Do You Commute So Far? for example], I guess BRoomers are experts on.........what? Radio 2 [Sally Boazman!]? Mothership? The Messiah? Local Commercial? BBC Local? Childrens' school concert? And why does decent music stop at 7pm?

  As posted in disscusion just bought a imacc. Scirocco but radio reception is carp Wing mounted ariel the telescopic section came out in my hand Question how does one replace these VW wing mounted ariels of this era as it seems a lot of work to get to the bottom Any help would be appreciated MM

  Reading through a few posts, why is it that the middle pedal in a car is often referred to as the "break" pedal and the thing that picks up a radio signal an "ariel"? And those trips up to the airport in Essex? It's STANSTED, not Stanstead! Anyone else spotted a regular spelling mistake oft repeated here?

  On my 2001 VW Passat there's a rattle from inside the centre air vent (above the radio). I need to remove the grille and vent but can't find any way of doing so. Does anyone know how to remove the vent without destroying anything please?

  Just heard on the radio (didn't it used to be called the wireless?) that the Freelander has the best used residuals in the land. Could this be because nobody has ever managed to cover more than 6,000 miles in one? Badge snobbery on a Ford.

  The panel itself lights up and then switches off as it pleases. That was first thing I noticed. Then my radio (well actually - more of a CD player seeing as I've never been able to use radio function) started playing dead too - no amount of banging or jiggling could sort it - but then all of a sudden after a fortnight of not working the CD would pop out and it would work fine again.

  Upon switching the ignition key to the run position, (or in fact starting the engine), the display goes blank for about 15 seconds. Also, the temp and fuel gauges remain off. This also includes the radio not switching on. (The engine runs absolutely fine and continues to do so). After about 15 seconds, the LCD display switches on and displays correctly, the temp and fuel gauges go to their correct setting and the radio turns on.

  A work colleague of mine has just informed me that whilst attempting to fix his non functioning radio he has managed to generate a dash full or warning lights. The problem started with the radio suddenly not working a few days ago.  We were discussing this in the office earlier this week and I suggested that as a place to start he could check the fuses to see if one had blown.
