  • VW Golf - doors freezing shut 27 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I complained loudly to VW headquarters in Milton Keynes, and told them that I expected them to pay for a new gutter moulding to be fitted to my car. Although the car is technically out of warranty, I took the view that this was a blatant design fault in the vehicle. Do the generality of motorists arm themselves with buckets of warm water and de-icers every time they want to open the door of their car on a slightly frosty morning?
  • What are the implications if someone chooses not to use a car repairer recommended by their insurance company? 10 Feb 2011 (Ask HJ)

  • Skoda Octavia - Variable Servicing / Oil change 6 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Q: Would it be wise to do a  National Tyres Castrol Edge oil change now (£31.50 and 507.00 spec) or would it void my Approved Used Skoda warranty? Or is it  really fine to run two years on the same oil.   I'm sure I'd be looking at £100-ish for a main dealer oil change. Thanks
  • FIAT Grande Punto (2006 - 2009) - 06 1.2 Electric Steering - possible fault. 13 Oct 2008 (Forum)
The steering works okay apart from this but as the car still has a year's dealer warranty left we want to get it fixed if it could be a problem. There are no warning lights on the dash, but this was definately not happening when we picked the car up. Does anyone know what is wrong with it (if anything).
  • Fiesta TDCI injectors 31 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I think 2002 was the first of the TDCI fiestas so maybe a design fault or ECU issue? mostly use tesco diesel in it (if thats makes any difference) any help appreciated. Thanks
  • Nissan Primera Radiator damage 7 Nov 2004 (Forum)
A friend with a 3 week old Primera found it losing coolant in a big way from the radiator. They are not car literate and were initially fobbed off by dealer with the line of, "stone damage, not covered by warranty....... happens regularly!" Well if it happens regularly it can only be a design fault, therefore should they go after dealer on 'fit for purpose'?
  • Help with a price please 15 Jul 2004 (Forum)

  • Advice on a future used car purchase 31 Jan 2017 (Forum)
I like the sound of buying an old reliable brand and not being hit by depreciation, but as my car skills stretch to topping up oil and washer fluid, it may be risky/false economy compared with buying a Toyota thats still under warranty. I like the look of having a reliable 3 year old 1.6 petrol Auris thats still under warranty - anything under 120BHP seems like it will be too sluggish for a car that size.
  • No goodwill gesture - is this fair? 16 Jul 2012 (Ask HJ)
I own a Fiat 500 Lounge 1.2 2008, 53k miles. I took the car to a Fiat garage with a problem with the front windscreen wipers failing. I was informed...

  • Peugeot 5008 - Broken injector holders after new injectors 31 Aug 2019 (Forum)
He said that perhaps somehow the internal compression of the engine is getting too high. I asked if they used the right injector for my car and he confirmed that they use the part that is suggested by Peugeot. He seemed to be knowledgeable on that to me. Now my question to you guys, anybody has seen such an issue before?
  • Audi A3 Sportback - Low diesel MPG - is it me or the car? 11 Apr 2011 (Forum)
There seem to be lots of MPG comparisons, but not many offering technical solutions to things which might be wrong with the car. Should I be going into a garage and asking them if there's something wrong with my car?  Its under warranty so I want to rule out any technical probs in the next 2 months. On my previous car - a 58 plate 1.8 petrol Honda civic , I used to get 38MPG regularly, last month - up to 44MPG in the summer time.
  • Sat Nav problem 10 Dec 2006 (Forum)
As far as I'm concerned the car is faulty"and that BMW should pay for the software to be upgraded... On the basis that new versions of software are constantly being released to "bug fix" potential faults, wouldn't you expect a BMW approved used car to be at the latest software level when you buy it?
