Petrol engine very high rev at UK speed limit why? 30 Jun 2021 (Forum)
Her car is cute Fiat Panda 1.2 8v 2007 which never been in before, but when she cruises the speed at 70mph (she did at 80mph sometimes) I was look at the rev counter it meet at 3,800 rpm for 80mph, I was wonder if she drove for a very long would not do any good to the engine? I have a diesel which do 2,300rpm at 70mph in fifth gear. I can't believe the rev on petrol, it seems far too much! Why are they doing that low gear ratio instead of high ratio, it would be save a lot on fuel. -
New Kia Sportage 1.7 Crdi 8 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I read around that 1.7 Crdi is very sluggish, so can someone compare this 1.7 Crdi Kia to Honda CR-V 2.0 Petrol in term of performance? And what real fuel consumption of this 1.7 Crdi in Kia Sportage i can expect? The other option that we think about is Suzuki Vitara, but if i pick Diesel Engine and similar Equipment they are similar price to Kia, and Look that Sportage offer more space and comfort than Vitara so im not sure that we should think about Vitara at all. -

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe - Service & MOT costs 19 Jan 2017 (Forum)
I have been quoted £660 for a MB dealer "main" service to include brake fluid change and oil, air and fuel filters change. (diesel 2.0 litre) Their MOT price is £35. One advantage is that you get Merc roadside recovery with the service for one year. Local Merc specialist (ex merc trained owners) is £260 inclusive. -
Dodge Nitro - fault code P0087 6 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Hi there, about 6 month ago I was having problems starting my vehicle, not turning over quick enough to fire but would start instantly with a jump start so I replaced the battery. When I took it to get the engine management light reset the code was P0087 so I replaced the fuel filter and put a diesel cleaner through it and no problems until 2 weeks ago when symtoms returned ie needing jump to start the car and the fault code is the same, done same as before and great for 3 days then car went into limp mode started again to go out and has been running great again (but engine man light still on ) but had to jump start any suggestions on what I can do now, cheers, Andy.......... -
BMW X3 - Anyone Got Experience With a BMW X3 16 Nov 2013 (Forum)
I've got a VW golf TDI at the moment with loads of miles on that I know will last forever, are the X3' diesels as reliable and long lasting? Cheers -
Vauxhall Antara - A round of applause for my Antara 3 Sep 2013 (Forum)
Paint still nice and shiny, nothing has stopped working or fallen off. I have put just about 250ml of oil to top it up, just the once mind, which on a brand new diesel engine is OK. I am a happy bunny. -
Renault Clio - Mileage from a full tank of petrol... 7 Aug 2013 (Forum)
I'll be buying a new car in the next few months, not sure what yet, but what I'd like to know is whether or not this is a good amount of estimated mileage for a car that size. For a 1.6 or 2.0 diesel, what kind of mileage will I be looking at from a full tank? Obviously it's hard to specify without me giving you a make and model (sorry) but I'm mainly trying to work out how much my fuel bill will go up. -
Sub-£2k car for 60 mile round commute 25 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I'm looking for a little advice! I own a 59 plate Mondeo (diesel) and it does the job of my 60 mile round commute perfectly. For various reasons (namely a new baby!), the Other Half is to have the Mondeo and I need a car for the commute. The journey's probably 90% single lane / dual carriage way and I'm looking to spend under £2,000. -
Corsa d 1.3 cdti 95 hp - Stuttering and hesitation under acceleration. 13 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Reading the relevant forums this seemed to be a common issue and various cures were proposed normally revolving around the egr valve. I noticed of recent that there seemed to be more diesel noise than there used to be. My local garage suggested I should change the fuel filter to start with. This was done and it has transformed the car. The hesitation has gone and it drives much better. -
Has anyone got a 'Q' car? 6 Jan 2013 (Forum)
In far off days this would mean a supercharged Minor, or Cortina Savage( bigger engine in normal saloon). I'd really like to buy a non-bling quick, grunty car, up to about 30k but with reasonable fuel consumption(30+), must have a nice ride and a bit of room. Estate would be fine, but not too big.Petrol or Diesel. The problem is that if you spec a decent engine with a new car you automatically get all the bling. -
BMW 3 Series Coupe - Used car for 3000-3500 for doing 450mi+ a week in 31 Mar 2012 (Forum)

Volvo V70 - rear end shunt 11 Sep 2011 (Forum)
My Volvo V70 diesel was hit from behind in a traffic queue and although the bodywork is now fine there are several issues on which I would like opinions. The fuel flap was jammed solid and on release has just flapped around...aptly named. -
Citroen Xsara 2.0 HDi - 2000 Citroen Xsara 2.0 HDi won't start please help 20 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Computer records 300 bar at fuel rail and rpm ok. Could this be heater plugs or would it have started with easystart if this was the case? It's driving me mad any help appreciated. -
VW Crafter 2.5 Bluetdi 109ps - Our Van & It's MPG 19 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Hi Everyone, We booked the Van to have its first health check and one point we put forward to the dealers was the bad fuel consumption. We are currently using £60.00 with diesel cost per litre @ £1.27 and that's getting us about 190 miles maximum. We are averaging approx 16-18mpg with no payload. -
Mazda 6; Mondeo; Avensis; Octavia - Hatchback versus Estate: advice sought. 27 Jan 2011 (Forum)
With the arrival of a daughter, our Golf TDi is no longer bigger enough to haul our camping gear (and now pushchair etc.) around the country, even with a roofbox. Given our storage needs I'd thought that a (used; <£8k) diesel estate might suit: an Octavia, say, or a Mazda 6, Mondeo or Avensis. When looking up the luggage capacity of these vehicles, however, they seem to carry little more than the respective hatchback, with presumably some disbenefit respecting fuel efficiency. -
BMW X3 - Multiple problems 27 Jan 2011 (Forum)
My November, 2007 (51) X3 SE Diesel Automatic, owned since 6 months old has done 36.000 miles and has been serviced as per manufacturers instructions. The following warning lights came on at the same time today: 4x4, ABS, Brake system, Tyre pressure, Air bag; in addition, the speedometer and cruise control do not work and the mileage remaining from the current fuel tank contents moves erratically. -

Mercedes E63AMG Estate at £72k (silver of course) Lamborgini Mucielago LP640 at £140k (yellow of course) Leaving some change for a brand new MX5 for inconspicuous fun, a new diesel Golf for winter and nearly £400k in the bank for insurance, upkeep and fuel. Would you buy the Bugatti???????? -
Misfuelling- a little prompt 23 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I'm not going to bang on about the wrongs of people who misfuel diesels with petrol. Mishaps happen and the deed is done. When you go to the till the cashier usually confirms the pump and the amount. Why can't they also state type of fuel. Some may already do this, but many don't. -
Skoda Octavia I (1998 - 2004) - 03 1.9 Tdi... solid? 28 May 2009 (Forum)
My Skoda owning friend, who is very happy with his 1.8T 4X4, says he wants to get another one, this time a diesel, to keep at his house in Croatia. He has found an 03 1.9 TDi from the same specialist garage (clearly an excellent place) that supplied the T, fsh and clean as a whistle but nearly 100,000 miles.
