• Ford Fiesta - Battery Power Loss 7 Nov 2005 (Forum)
  Hope someone can help My wifes aging fiesta is suffering from all sorts of problems, however, this morning, driving along there seemed to be a lack of battery power (although the car started first time). At one point, the radio turned off, the blower worked at half speed and the internal and external lights were all very dim. After about 90 seconds, it reverted back to normal.

  sometimes after starting up the battery light on my 7 month old caravelle glows very faintly for about a minute (even when driving). I've had the car for a month and during that time have had a towbar fitted. Unfortunately, as the wife uses it most of the time I do not know if the problem was there before fitting.

  Had a flat battery last night which isn't unusual for a second hand car which has been sitting on a forecourt up until last weekend (and has sat unmoved during the last very cold week). On the basis that it starts again after the short run I gave it after a jump, what distance do I need to travel for it to be fully charged.

  Please could someone help me on this annoying problem? Cavalier Mk3 SRi G plate Replaced the battery, and now the car will not run. It turns over ok, but seems not to fire?, replaced the air box, there is nice atomised fuel on all four cylinders excellent sparks. It usually started first time every time, replaced ECU and ignition relay, fuel pump working fine.

  I phoned the dealership and they said it was fine. The same thing happened today and this time I have been told by the dealership that the battery is now fully dead and will not hold a charge. They say I need to pay for a new one at a cost to me of £401.54. My question is, should the main LR dealership have looked after my battery for the three months it was with them and is it their fault my battery has failed.

  The earth is OK too with no resistance between the earth terminal and body or engine. Cranking for 15 - 20 secs got the volts dropping to just over 9v and you could hear the battery starting to die. So I'm thinking the battery is on the way out. It's seven years old so it is about that time.   The thing is, throughout all of the above, the little indicator has shown green - "Charge OK".

  Hello, I'm posting because I've reached the end of my tether with my 02 1.8 Focus. In the last month I've changed the battery, had 2 new alternators and had a wiring loom replaced. When I'm starting it from cold, revs will drop and it will cut out with the battery light on unless I sit for a couple of mins with my foot on the accelerator.

  The battery drained on my son's car over a few hours a couple of nights ago, he charged the battery and had no problems till tonight when returning from a short trip the engine wouldn't turn off even with key removed!.

  Got kids in and then tried to start it. Turned over but would not go. Managed to jump start it later and checked battery voltage which was 14.4V whilst running, so believe alternator is OK.

  A week ago I couldn't start my car because the battery was dead - Hubby took it out and charged it and it was fine. This afternoon I couldn't start my car again (hadn't used it for 3 or 4 days) (Skoda Favorit, 1995) - sounded pretty much like a dead battery again.

  I'm experiencing a strange electrical problem with my Golf MK3 (1995 Reg) and could do with some pointers... The car was left unused for a while recently and didn't quite have enough battery to start up. It was just about turning over but wouldn't start. All other electrical features were sluggish but functioning. I took the battery out and recharged it fully. Now when I reconnect the battery, the car won't turn over at all and the hazard lights come on intermittently, either periodically or when something is activated i.e. electric windows.
