Stopping speeding 10 Oct 2009 (Ask HJ)
I suggest there is a better alternative to road humps. These could be replaced by a single red light at the side of the road that is either on or off.... -
Tory party to review speed limits ... 1 Jul 2003 (Forum)
All road humps should be ripped up and removed, they increase pollution and do not stop postie or white van man from driving slowly! ...perhaps replaced by cameras if the accident rate warrants it... Am I talking sense or complete rubbish.... -
Nissan Primera (P12 auto) - Worth considering? 31 Oct 2024 (Forum)
Seems that for the money, you can get one with lots of service history-I believe it's pretty crucial for the longevity of the timing chain to have had regular oil changes? We both like the interior design, and the reverse camera and optional sat nav are attractive options, which don't seem to be present on similar family cars of similar ages. Could anyone give me their opinion on these cars? Are they worth considering? -
Black tinted rear window driving at night 15 Mar 2024 (Forum)
It is also annoying when reverse parking at night. As you cant see much. I do have parking sensors. The rear parking camera is useless at night as all I can see is grainy black and white video and low resolution. I know many cars have rear tinted windows... but this an annoying disadvantage. -
MINI Hatch 5-door - Is lower mileage worth it. 15 Jan 2024 (Forum)
So I have narrowed down a search to two cars mini cooper 1.5 one on a 20 plate comfort pack (25k miles) one on 71 plate comfort plus electric wingmirror/comfort access/rear parking camera etc 8.5k miles Both white. 20 plate is on foe 13750 71 plate on for 16750 Seems to be an enormous difference in price. Is this worth the extra 3 thousand ? -
Driving SORN car to pre-booked MOT but I cancelled 19 Oct 2023 (Forum)
I'm aware that I am allowed to drive a SORN car to an MOT appointment. However, I have concerns about potential issues with ANPR cameras fines by post. I'm curious about the likelihood of successfully appealing any such fine. To clarify, while I did have a prebooked MOT appointment, I drove part of the way to the garage but ultimately did not reach the destination and instead returned home. -
Speed limits for cyclists? 13 Aug 2020 (Forum)
It's also seriously dangerous when they zoom silently through villages and hamlets having little or no regard to residential pedestrians, school /playground entrances etc. At least speeding cyclists in towns and cities are sometimes reined in by limits such as speed cameras, traffic lights, crossings or dedicated cycle paths. In London boroughs the 20mph limits help a little as long as motorists are constantly on the look out for the death defying undertaking racer.... -
Honda CRV 2014 - Honda CRV - tilting door mirrors 13 Jul 2020 (Forum)
I’ll swear that on one of the demonstrators I drove both wing mirrors tilted downwards as a reversing aid when reverse was selected and I found the mirrors easier to use than the reversing camera. On the last ‘SR’ I drove I could only get the nearside mirror to dip and the other demonstrator has now been sold so I can’t convince my sceptical salesman that both mirrors tilted though I certainly used that on the driver’s side to assist me park between two other cars. -
ANY - Land Rover and others telematics tracking 22 Jan 2020 (Forum)
The Land Rover was also driven to the house on the night of the shooting, he said, with CCTV cameras also picking up its movements. Telematics data revealed the boot had been open and closed during this time, which indicated the crossbow used in the killing being placed inside the car. -
Anyone ever caught for doing 80 mph on motorway? 4 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Since, most speedos over estimate speed, should I be ok if I constantly maintain an 85 mph indicated speed? (I'm not talking of temporary speed restricted areas). Just wondering how cops and speed cameras consider 80 mph on motorway as an offence! -
Watching the speedo like mad. 25 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Since October last year the minimum speeding ticket has gone up to £100 plus three points. I got caught by a camera van and opted to do the speed awareness course for £80 and no points. I was clocked doing 35mph on a downhill approach to a village. You don't get a second chance to do the course for three years. -
The Dealership Channel 4 last night. 18 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Apparently they don't make huge profits on a sale and the salesmen have to do a sale a day to make a decent income on top of their basic. Well I don't know how much of this was playing to the cameras but to have to do this job day after day and go through the agonizing haggles with the customer each time I think they earn their money. It's great to see, in contrast to all the welfare stories of spongers, that there are still little battlers in this country who never say die and who keep the wheels of the economy turning.
