  • Review: Ring Magflex Twist work lamp 7 Jun 2017 (News)
In fact, it’s so sturdy we decided to run it over – and it survived with barely a scratch. The built-in battery lasts about three hours before it needs a recharge from one of the two supplied chargers – one that connects to the mains and another to plug into a 12V van accessory socket. There’s not much more to it – the Magflex is a smartly designed, well-made work lamp and at £30-40, depending on where you buy, it’s decent value too.
  • A Grand Monday: Peugeot 405 21 Nov 2016 (News)
Power steering, alloys and tinted windows complete the definition of iconic Eighties plushness. It comes with a new battery and exhaust, while the current owner has replaced the steering wheel and gearknob with new items to bring the cabin right up to mint condition – it looks lovely. With a new 12-month MoT, the only thing that might detract from the car’s appeal is its automatic gearbox.
  • A Grand Monday: Saab 900i 11 Apr 2016 (News)
The brake discs and pads have plenty of life left in them and we’re told that everything works – manual sunroof, electric windows, and central locking. The seller says that the exhaust is in good condition and a new, heavy-duty battery was fitted last year. The tyres also look good, with a new set fitted to the rear recently. So it could justify its £1375 price tag, especially as demand is growing for these cars. While Saabs are pretty strong mechanically, they can rust just like any other old car if they're not looked after.

  • Celebrate 30 years of the Sinclair C5 2 Jan 2015 (News)
But at just 2ft 7in tall, it made users vulnerable on the road, while the claimed 20 miles of one battery charge was modest to say the least. And then there was the ‘weather cheater’ poncho – a poor substitute for the lack of rain protection. Although Sinclair had expected to sell up to 100,000 units a year, only 9000 C5s were built.
