Overall reliability

A very practical MPV well built with good quality

I needed a MPV to fit in 3 baby seats for grandchildren which was proving impossible in a 2009 Audi A4 Avant, considered C Max Grand and Mazda 5 at first, but felt the middle rear seat in both too narrow, however other than rear seat was really impressed with the C Max but extended delivery also discouraged me.
Visited a VW dealership and noticed the Touran which I had'nt considered, after several years of Audi ownership I felt at home in the VW cabin with similar stalks and instruments to Audi also felt the quality was as good as the B7 Audi A4 together with the SE extras of Auto wipers, headlights and internal dipping rear view mirror.
I was sold on the vehicle after checking that 3 kids seats fitted comfortably in the rear with the added benefit of the additional 2 seats on the 7 seater. A quick delivery was available on a SE 1.6 105bhp,I was concerned with the power after 140bhp in Audi A4 & A6 but it seemed very refined and nippy on a test drive and quite relaxed on a motorway.
Following 3 months ownership I am very pleased with the vehicle particularly the elevated driving position, tremendous versatility of seating arrangements and overall quality feel and any concerns about power were misplaced after running in,it will cruise comfortably at 70 plus with no problems on gradients, I am currently achieving 48mpg in mixed driving
I thought the negative comments were unjustified regarding Sports seats I am 5 11 13 stone and fit very well in them, the fabric pulls for seats are very practical and have obviously worked well in previous models Dab radio is now in doubt and not a concern
