Unbeatable small automatic economy

This is my wife's car that I use in preference to my Audi A3 Sportback for local journeys. I don't think the motoring press understand what this car is about so I'll enlighten them! It is very, very economical on the short journeys of maybe 3-5 miles of which my wife makes many. Overall she gets about 58 mpg. Even a small diesel automatic can't match that from cold on such a short journey. It is very quiet and comfortable and has a fairly high seating position which helps with getting in and out. Roomy in the back for a small car and not a bad size boot. I still find it reasonably quiet up to 70 mph and have achieved 72 mpg on longer journeys. Very smooth CVT auto gearbox. I find the maximum speed in EV is about 40mph which can be sometimes maintained for half a mile or so, especially if down an incline. Fairly well equipped for a car that is now four years old with bluetooth, reversing sensors and camera, climate control but no sat nav on this version. In four years (only 18,000 miles) it hasn't had a single fault. I would say that Toyota's insistence on servicing every year to maintain the warranty despite just 3-4000 miles is annoying.
All in all I would thoroughly recommend for a city or suburban car.
