Nice car - AWFUL gearbox

The car itself is great. Comfortable seats, loads of space in the back (we got a double wardrobe in the back, no problems) and a fairly pleasant drive...until the gearbox starts to act up. The Multi Mode may sound fancy or good but it is TERRIBLE. It's not a true automatic, rather, it has, basically, an automatic clutch and you can feel each gear change. The real problem comes when the rev sensor starts to pack up and when it gets hot, it defaults to neutral. So, you are sitting in traffic at a roadworks, the car gets hot and suddenly you have no drive! Toyota offered to "repair it" (apparently the repair may only last a year or maybe two) at a cost of £2200 (I kid you not). We lived with the issue for a while but when my wife broke down on a blind corner with no-one to help her, we decided to get rid of it. So, a nice car but do yourself a favour; get a manual!
