Generous equipment, soild build, brilliant dealership

First time of leasing from main Toyota dealership in Plymouth. Picked up ex-demo business edition D-4D TR Business edition, 3yr lease from 10k - £43k. 2k deposit @£218 per month + servicing (inc VAT). Just handed back this month and have leased a new Avensis.

Styling is sharp although not quite in same league as BMW or Audi but list of extras more than compensates.

Adaptive cruise great on long journeys, decent sound system with effective Satnav. Good size touch & go screen with reversing camera (wouldn't own a car without one now). Auto headlights / windscreen wipers worked well. Long list of other electric gadgets that come as standard on Toyota.

Massive boot. We have 2 kids (kid seats). Loads of space.

Seats very comfortable. Good driving position. 140bhp engine quick and diesel responsive. Handling sharp, firm grip on corners and limited roll. Slight feedback on pedals when revved hard.

However, annoying 1st gear difficult to change into when car coasts at 2-4mph requiring the car to be at near stand still. This is further compounded by the useless torque available at low speed in 2nd gear, which is unlike most other diesels I have driven. I ended up constantly having to stop in 1st gear or rev like mad in 2nd gear to prevent stalling.

Wind noise from door seals at speed (65-80mph) still too noisy for a car that aspires to compete against German rivals. This mentioned loads over last 10 years on numerous professional / amateur reviews on this mark and previous. Toyota should be lamented for not addressing. Better quality foam seals ain't exactly asking the earth!

Problem with driver side window switch, replaced under warranty (35000 miles). Fly wheel clutch bearing, replaced under warranty (38000 miles).

Great dealership, Snows of Plymouth. Friendly, professional and good mechanics. No issue with servicing or 2 repairs.

Sum up: Great family car. Great extras. 5yr warranty and welcoming dealership worth every penny of worry free motoring.
