Surprisingly Superb

The Celerio replaced a 2016 1.2 Fiesta Studio. The driving would be 70% motorway from Ayrshire to Glasgow and back and the rest town. It's main task was to reduce the fuel consumption from the Fiesta's dire real life 40mpg to a more modern expectation. In this respect the little Suzuki has excelled by returning a real life 58mpg.

On the motorway the 1 litre engine is surprisingly capable, sitting at the legal limit without any issues or excessive noise while still having enough in reserve to over take anything not matching motorway speeds.

Of course the plastic are hard and not to Ford standards, but at £7400 on the road or even £6995 pre-registered asking for anything else is frankly living in the Twilight Zone of unrealistic expectations. The interior plastics will survive the usual daily treatment without any problems and the seat fabric well suited to most peoples needs.

The little Celerio's ace is it's boot size, especially considering that this is a small city car and has more than enough front and rear passenger room, the boot will happily accommodate the monthly shop or weekend away luggage needs.

It's main weakness is its CD radio. No matter what it's almost impossible to strike the right bass, treble or EQ balance. Not a dire system, but one that could be improved without adding excessive cost.

In summary the Suzuki is practical motoring with economy in pole position. More than enough internal space in its Tardis like cabin for such a small car. Extremely able 3 pot 1 litre engine that puts the 1.2 Fiesta engine to shame. If you want anything more from a city car at this price then you're living in a motoring world that doesn't exist.
