Overall reliability

Reliable good looking well fitted out and economical car with best motor and automatic tranny, being all Honda. 87,000km NZ import cheap & no regrets...

Rover name compromised by company closure, however, this model is virtually trouble-free thanks to its Japanese Honda quality mechanicals. With just 87,000 km it has years of service left. New Zealand does not use salt on roads so body is excellent and rust-free. Leather upholstery is like new condition as are carpets and fittings. One un-Japanese feature is saggy roof and door linings though. Great ride for its size and handles ok too. Good around the city but really shines on open road; quiet comfortable cruising with adequate power. Fairly economical @ 8.5L/100km or about 35 mpg. No NCap crash test data available but feels strong and is rattle/squeak free. Adequately equipped for me with no foolish gimmicks to suffer costly replacement. Parts are no problem as a dedicated Rover dismantler has a good stock of new parts and service, plus plenty of local Honda service/parts around. Have owned lots of later Japanese vehicles and more powerful Australian cars, however, very happy driving this my 28th car.
