well built, comfortable family car

Have had this car for 2 months, I bought it as a replacement for a much loved 2.0 petrol Avensis Verso GLS Auto and have now covered over 1500 miles. Wanted something safer for the family and cheaper to run. Was all set to buy an S Max but then found out it dose not have a spare wheel, With a family to think of hanging around waiting for a low loader was not an option. I know you get a pump and foam but they don't work in certain situations so looked else ware.
The 5008 is smaller than my last car and the S Max. It feels more like an estate car than a people carrier when your in it. But it still has enough room for the five of us and our dog. I prefer the drive and the exterior of the Peugeot but preferred the interior style of the S Max as it feel more airy inside.

Fuel economy is not it's strong point but about the same as the compotition when you look at the real MPG not the sales type figures after all It is a 7seater 2.0L torque converter Auto. The MPG figures we get are as follows;
28mpg in rush hour stop start traffic (average speed 12mph)
36mpg in more free flowing town traffic(average speed 18mph)
44mpg on twisty country a roads and (average speed 30mph)
48mpg on a 70-80 mph motorway run (average speed 60mph)

This 5008 does most of it's work in the school run stop start traffic with my wife at the helm. The overall average is 34mpg at an average speed of 16mph, I have checked this when refuelling and it is correct.

LIKES;
3 full size flexi seats in the mid row and 2 reasonable size seats in the rear.
I Love the ride and drive, the 6 speed auto gearbox is fantastic!
Brakes are sharp as you like.
Auto/electronic handbrake (now I am used to it)
All the controls surfaces and seats feel top quality (BMW/AUDI esc).
Chill box in centre consol is a great idea for the summer.
The spare wheel is thinner than the ones that come with the car but not a skinny space saver which limits your speed when fitted.
Lots of cubby holes, but I find most to small to be very useful (see below)
Curtsy lights in the bottom of all the doors.

DONT LIKEs;
Cruise control and radio controls on stalks are not visible as they are behind the steering wheel and can be distracting to use.
The chrome finishing and some of the surfaces under the windscreen are too reflective and in bright sunlight reflects on the windscreen
The glasses holder is not big enough to hold glasses.
It needs tweeter speakers in the mid row to improve sound. My kids are always asking for the volume to be turned up as they only have the midrange speaker that muffles the sound.
No cup holders in the front.
Graphics on the trip computer are made from blocks (reminiscent for the 70's), at best this could said to be a bit retro!
I cannot fit all the stuff from the Avensis Verso cubby holes in the 5008 as they are all smaller. I cannot even fit a CD wallet in the glove box! I also thought as it is a French car there would be a place to store the legally required hazard triangle but NO! I have to keep one of the rear most seats up so that I can use the storage under it.

As an over view though I am happy with this car and I would whole heartedly recommend it. If the 1.6 diesel auto box was smoother I would have gone for that for the economy but could not have lived with the jerky gearbox though!
