Overall reliability

Generally adequate for purpose but remain unimpressed with some areas

this vehicle was bought to suit my 89 year old disabled mother,,she likes the upright/armchair style seats in 4x4 rather than the legs out in front style of most cars, but that poses access problems in getting in. She was able to get in this one just! and we needed enough height and width in the tailgate to get a wheelchair hoist/wheelchair/ power chair into the boot. As we mostly drive on muddy country lanes and have steep drives and hills to negotiate to get onto the main roads a 4X4(auto gearbox) is our preference.
It performed well in the snow on M&S tyres and the ability to lock it in 4drive before leaving the garage means that their is no hesitation in getting up the hill from the garage whilst the normal 2x4 drive of many so called 4X4s is still thinking about the problem (a Honda CRV and Volvo XC 70 have been previous vehicles).
I also need a soft/compliant but well controlled ride and peace and quiet in the cabin, low road noise.
I find it noisy, suspension is ok but not well controlled, seating generally comfortable and fuel economy good for this type of vehicle. Turbo whine is present again after the original turbo was replaced under warranty at the first annual service, radio ceased to function due to loose aerial connection and the most recent problem is internal rusting seems to be appearing on the lower edge of the tailgate which has just been submitted as a warranty claim.Access to the rear seats is compromised by obstructions under the front seats where your feet should go. Now decided that i need better quality/quieter(inside) vehicle thats meets my criteria. Its not easy to find something to suit, handling is not my top priority so looking now at top range suvs, Wont be buying another Nissan I'm afraid.
