Reliable & cheap family hatchback

I have been driving my Nissan note now for a year and what a cracking cheap (£2000) and reliable tardis of a motor this is. Firstly the bad bits 1: the Bluetooth radio is only for phone calls, it cannot stream music from a phone, 2: The driver seat squab doesn’t adjust for height instead it tilts which can take some getting use to until you find a comfortable position that works for you, 3: the steering wheel only adjusts for height and not reach- again making finding a comfortable driving position more difficult but not impossible . Now the great bits about this car, the boot has a adjustable floor and when in its highest position it can still swallow a family’s monthly bulk buy worth of groceries whilst leaving enough space underneath for a couple of laptop bags to be hidden. The rear seats are very comfortable and you can fit 3 adults abreast, you have the added benefit of picnic tables in the back aswell as storage pockets. As mentioned before the radio doesn’t stream music but it is set up for hands free phone calls & within the lidded storage compartment where you can store your phone out of sight on the dash above the stereo is a AUX Input. There is electric windows in the front and rear, a heated rear window and automatic aircon when used with the heater clears the windscreen incredibly quick.
There are multiple front and side airbags incase of an accident.
The 1.4 engine mated to the manual 5 speed gearbox is perfect for around town and country lane driving and although it can keep up with motorway traffic it is very noisy above 55mph, but if driven sensibly can return 43 mpg around town and 48 mpg on a long journey. The ride is set up more for comfort than speed and it really does well soaking up small to medium pot holes but can be a little wallowy around swooping bends and roundabouts. There is the added bonus that the engine is chain driven so no belts to be changing. I would 100% advise anyone looking for a cheap reliable family car to buy a Nissan note as you’ll be hard pushed to find a better car for £2000.
