Transcontinental Cruiser

I've done 14,000 miles since October last; it's been totally reliable - as I would have expected, having done 70k trouble free miles in my previous Mercedes. Plus points - Super Style inside and out - it's a cool car (subjective), brutal and very useful in-gear acceleration, superb and effortless long distance cruising for up to four people and their luggage (European speed limits can be exceeded on 'fast tickover'), the feel of it/handling inspires confidence (although I never go anywhere near the limit) and amazing economy for a big car (I've just returned from 4000 miles through France and Spain with a full load and A/C on full and averaged 47.5 mpg for this particular journey). Minus points - on some UK roads the tyre noise is what I would consider to be unacceptable for a Mercedes, ride a bit firm on UK B roads, poor quality (control) on two interior items - two loose screws on door trim and the 'veneer' dash is poorly fitted (yet to be remedied).
