Good and Bad

After over a year of ownership I can give an accurate and honest review of this car.

It's a very smart looking car, especially the black and chrome which I have noticed attracts attention from the public when parked.

The interior is like a tardis, loads of passenger room although as with most crossovers the boot space is ok at the most, it did manage 4 passengers and 4 cases for our holidays but the rear seat fold down does not work as well as some.

The car has been totally reliable and has maintained its 'as new' appearance.

Driving the car is not however great, the steering is r******, vague and no real feel to it, the suspension is hard and anything except major roads and you get thrown about a fair bit.

The power of the engine is good but the engine is unrefined and this intrudes into the cabin due to a lack of sound proofing.

The interior looks fantastic but closer inspection reveals cheap hard plastic on a lot of surfaces that tends to mark too easily, driving comfort is not great either, the seats again look very nice but don't offer any real designed support.

Fuel consumption is well below the claimed MPG, mixed driving gives around the 37mpg region, owners stating they are getting mid to high 40's are relying on the digital read out results and not doing the maths.

After 18 months ownership I have accepted the car is what it is, a good looking capable machine that at times shows it is built to look the business and match the best with the included extras but in reality is spoilt by refinement and quality feel.

The 5 year warranty is certainly a strong point, owning the car after that warranty expires would scare me though.

Would I buy another? afraid not, Hyundai used to be priced well below the competition, they now think they match other's and have priced accordingly, when in fact Skoda, Ford etc offer a much higher standard of finish and refinement to their similar style of vehicles.
