Excellent car compared to others small hatchbacks

I have the Hyundai I30 1.6 CRDI. I can honestly say from a balancing point of view of the types of driving you want, you cannot go far wrong with this because if you drive this car the way a driver should which is careful you can get easily just over 60mpg. I always make sure mine is clean because otherwise I don't think it gives any appeal to other drivers, it also stands out a lot more than when it is dirty and I can go on to say almost as appealing as a golf. I think it is basically the same as a vw golf but better in economy, practicability and comfort. I did not like the car when I first saw it and it takes a bit of time getting used to it but there are things to be said that puts a smile on your face even though some areas of the design are just not right put pays dividends if you look after it.

Good:
Full economy
Good suspension ( does not bump too much over pot holes compared to ford focus )
Spare wheel
Good solid paint colours
Practical in terms of rear seats fold inwards and totally flat ( which is more than the golf can )
Lots of rear head room and leg space
Excellent 6 speed gear for cruising 2 and half thousand revs at 70mph
Foot rest for left foot
Good stereo

Downside:
Wide pillows in the corner near windscreen block blindspot and view.
slight roadnoise through windows, windows could be more double glazed.
Lousy 1st and 2nd gear changes ( quite stiff )

I cannot see many cars beating it for a while

Buy one, you won't regret it, its a bargin.
