How you rate the manufacturer

A good looking vehicle, inside and out, superb comfort, great road holding, lot's of toys and very quiet in the cabin.

After test drives with new Civic 2.2LTDCI, Auris hybrid and Golf 2LTDI, I tried this Focus and what a surprise! I was smitten. I have never owned my own car until now as all were company cars and the last was a Golf 2L TDI. I thought my 3.5 year old Golf was great, but this to my mind has the edge, on looks, comfort, handling, road holding, motorway driving, toys and a really quiet cabin in all conditions. The only issue with noise is the UK's dreadful road surfaces, but it is minimal. I have had one month of pleasure driving this and the only issue I can raise is the economy averaging 40 mpg. The Golf gave me 49 mpg throughout the 3.5 years. I am a mechanical designer and can appreciate the clever and well thought out dashboard layout and controls. The driving position is just right, you have good all round views and a good parking assistant. It copes well with 4 up and a bootful on country roads. If you have to look under the bonnet and see the clever use of plastic mouldings to make the the car lighter. My first company car was an Escort 1.4L thirty years ago, and I can only say WOW to this. If your looking and trying - try one of these, it's well worth it.
