Still Keeps Me Happy

Some reports state that this is the softest feeling 3 series in terms of chassis behaviour but I bet that 99% of owners don't care as it's proven to be a refined, comfortable and economical car with enough poke for most needs.

It doesn't handle badly either, although a rack with more feel would undoubtedly benefit driver feedback.

The only snags - the xDrive increases the turning circle (I had no choice as BMW New Zealand does not offer the Touring without this) and the lower driver's door trim has a few scuff marks from me sc***ing footwear against the map pockets when exiting the cabin in tight parking spaces. Why BMW doesn't carpet the lower door trims to prevent this b*****s belief!

It's got proper round dials too unlike the new G21 Touring which has an unintuitive counter-clockwise rev counter and messy instrument panel graphics - not to mention a gawky grille that really puts me off from taking it on as my next mount.

So far, the only major issue it's shown is the air-con spewing out hot and cold air alternately, which required a week's stay at the dealer to sort out. Thank god it was still under warranty when that happened. Also, tyre wear is heavier than my previous rear drive E46 - another reason not to tick the xDrive box if you can.
