Can an insurance company revoke an admission of liability?

I was involved in a car accident where the third party went into the back of me at a junction. The third party admits fault and their insurance contacted me to get it all repaired. I used my own choice of representation and one month down the line my car is now written off, as a engineer's report states. I recieved a letter saying they are taking admission of liability back as it was a error. They are asking me loads of questions like how many times did I stop, exact details etc. I have never had a accident of this magnitude before and was wondering how they can do this as I have done nothing wrong.
