I've had a terrible experience with Hyundai warranty repairs in France.

I bought an i30 in March. I have been in France for a few weeks. It now stutters and stammers. I tried the Hyundai dealer in Periquex, they don't deal in Hyundai warranty work. They told me to try Bergerac, they could not see the car for two weeks. I contacted three other Hyundai dealers in SW France, two ignored me while the third gave me an appointment and, the day before, cancelled it, telling me I could not have another appointment for three months!

I contacted Hyundai France, they ignored me. I tried Hyundai UK, a young man said call back and then was not there when I did. Another young man told me to contact Hyundai France, I told him I had, he seemed nonplussed. A lady team leader tried to help but told me that as I was the owner I had to phone Hyundai France personally. Finally a young lady said "leave it with me, I'll call you tomorrow".

She called and I now have an appointment with a garage in Bergerac, not the recommended one, for 0730 on Thursday which means I leave here at Coulaures at 0600, about 100 km, to get there on time. Hyundai UK have told me that they believe they have acted well and that I must arrange and pay for any hire car whilst warranty work is being done, or hotel accommodation. I am told by Hyundai UK that I could use the RAC to take the car to Bergerac, but my 90 days' cover is expired for that service.

If a car does not become immobilised but there is plainly a warranty problem how is it that Hyundai can absolve themselves of any responsibility if I then lose my transport for a day or longer? They and the supplier have my £15,000.00. I have a bucket of worries. Perhaps you ought to caveat your recommendation of the i30 diesel auto to warn people not to rely on Hyundai Warranty in SW France, unless it is SARL Verrouil of Bergerac, a kind and helpful garage.

It sounds like you are having some frustrating problems with your warranty work and it does seem like Hyundai UK and their French counterparts are having some serious communication problems. We'd suggest you write to Hyundai customer services in the UK using exactly what you've emailed to us and explain how disappointed you are. Hopefully this will highlight the issues to them (writing seems to get better results that phoning albeit slower). Be persistent and you should hopefully get some results.
