Can I drive to a pre-booked MoT without tax and insurance?

I am about to take ownership of a 1995 Mazda MX5; it has no road tax or MoT. Can you tell me if I need to insure it to drive to a pre-booked MoT?

You can drive it to a pre-booked MoT without tax, but not without insurance, so the answer is to get the MoT station to pick it up and deliver it back to you on its trade plates and trade insurance. This will probably be cheaper than a single day's insurance.
