What value should we place on a 2000 Ford Fiesta for insurance purposes?

My 28-year-old daughter is about to inherit a 2000W Fiesta 1.2 Zetec with 60,000 miles. What value would you say it is for insurance? I imagine it would be £500 - £1000, in which case is it worth insuring fully comp or third party? Is there any benefit to her personally having fully comprehensive insurance?

Around £800. But it doesn't matter what value you put on it, you will only get 'market value' in the event of a claim. Usually there is no advantage in going third party because the insurer’s underwriting stats can actually make it more expensive than comp.
