How do I obtain insurance quotes without having chosen a car yet?

How do you get a quote for car insurance for a car that you might buy but don’t own? Companies I have looked at want not only all of my details but those of my car. If I am thinking of buying a Mini, Morgan or Maserati how can I see what if any insurance is available before committing to buy the car?

If you have not selected the exact vehicle you wish to purchase we would suggest choosing an example that is close to the age, mileage, specification and value of the car you wish to buy and using those details to obtain quotes. The vehicle you eventually purchase may be slightly different to this but as long as the basic elements are close it should make little difference.

Additionally if you use price comparison sites to obtain quotes they usually allow you to enter a vehicle by make, model, age, mileage and value and will provide several quotes from a variety of insurers.
