How can I arrange insurance for a hire car in Canada?

In July I will be hiring a car in Vancouver to drive through the Rockies. My daughter who lives in Canada and has a Canadian driving licence will be paying with her credit card which covers her for insurance and CDW, but not me. What cover should I take out and where, to ensure I am fully covered whilst driving? Also would it be wise to get an international driving licence?

An IDP is nothing more than a translation of your UK licence and since they speak English as well as French in most of Canada I don't see any real need for one as long as you have a photocard licence. If you don't have a photocard licence, get one. You can do this online here: www.gov.uk/exchange-paper-driving-licence-photocar...e

They use your biometric passport photo. Saves a lot of time, effort and messing about. You will have to arrange insurance locally in Vancouver. Check with the rental company how beast to do that on terms the rental company is happy with.
