Can I insure my grandson on my car and leave it with him to use?

I have bought and own a small Vauxhall 1.2 Corsa year Nov 2000. I want to take out comprehensive insurance for it in my name and add my 18-year-old grandson as a named driver. He has had a full driving licence for one year. The car will be parked on the driveway of the house where he lives for him to use as and when. Is this legal? Will he be covered by the by the car insurance? I am 75 years old with 30 years' no-claims bonus.

No. That's called 'fronting'. Register and insure it in his name, add yourself as a named driver and go for a telematics based policy: www.honestjohn.co.uk/useful-websites/tax-insurance.../
