Does the Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life have an engine larger than 1.6-litre, and is it more expensive to tax?

I'm enquiring about the Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life. My partner informs me that we would have to pay extra tax on a car which has an engine larger than 1.6 litres. Can you please tell me if the Caddy Maxi Life is more than a 1.6? Can you give me some info on cars that are seven seaters but have a 1.6-litre engine please?

The Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life is taxed on its CO2 output, not its engine size. There is no Caddy 1.6. Tax for this year is as follows: 1.9 TDI PD: £99/£180; 1.9 TDI PD (models from May 2008): £85.25/£155; 1.9 TDI DSG: £110/£200; 2.0 TDI: £99/£180.

Other seven-seat cars with a 1.6-litre or less engine include the Vauxhall Zafira and Volkswagen Touran: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/vauxhall/zafira-b-20...a; and www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volkswagen/touran-mp...3
