Would you still recommend the Nissan X-Trail as an excellent 4x4 vehicle?
When they first came out, you seemed impressed with the Nissan X-Trail. Now some time has passed, do you still hold them in the same high regard? I have a steamboat which weighs about 1000kg and I want a good tow vehicle. My present Subaru Outback is good but does cost a lot to run.

Our opinion on the X-Trail hasn’t changed – it’s still a great 4x4 vehicle – just one that’s often overlooked for more stylish ‘off-roaders’ that aren’t actually very good off-road. If you’re after a tow car, then the X-Trail is a superb choice. It can pull an unbraked trailer of up to 750kg but if you have a braked trailer the manual 2.2 dCi with 173bhp can pull 2,200kg and the automatic, which has less power at 150bhp, can manage 1,350kg. In terms of economy, the X-Trail 2.2 dCi manual has an official average of 38.2mpg.
Real MPG enables you to register the fuel economy you are actually getting against your make and model of car, its engine and type of transmission.
Every time you enter an average consumption figure against your car, the overall average automatically adjusts to reflect it.
