On going fault with a new vehicle - legal advice

I purchased a new Hyundai i30 just under two and a half years ago and have had numerous problems with it since new:

Firstly, just under a month of having the vehicle it was making noises from the front offside wheel, whilst turning. I took the vehicle in to the dealers for them to look at.

I was told that the suspension mounts were fitted incorrectly and that this had been replaced whilst they had the vehicle that day.

The vehicle continued to make noises from the same place.

I wrote to the dealership and to Hyundai UK to reject the vehicle. They asked for “A” chance to rectify the fault.

Two and a bit years on… it has had suspension mounts replace, the steering rack replaced, the full front suspension replace. There have been several other parts replace, some twice, but the fault is still there.

The second issue is the patchy paint work around the door closures of the vehicle, one of which has been resprayed; I have no idea why they only did the one.

As I say Hyundai asked for one chance to put the vehicle right, this is not what I expect from any new vehicle, I’m sure you will agree I have been fair enough, the amount of chances/ repairs carried out on the vehicle to date.

I am currently trying to obtain a list of all repairs and parts changed to date, which I will forward to you.

I would appreciate your opinion on where I stand.

In law, this is covered by the Supreme Court ruling in Clegg v Olle Anderson (2003). But taking the matter to court will cost you between £10,000 and £20,000 and you might lose your case. Law here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/ So while in theory you have a right to reject the car, in practise this would not be a sensible way to go.
