The paint lacquer is peeling on my Mercedes - will they repair it?

My Mercedes A180 in Jupiter Red is peeling. It is a 2017. Bought secondhand from Mercedes about 6 years ago. I do not have a service history with them. This colour was on a recall list I believe between 2012-2019. The dealer I bought it off said they will do nothing because I’ve had it over 5 years. Is it worth persuing?

While it may be unsuccessful, we would suggest it is worth trying to see if you can get some redress from Mercedes-Benz over the failing paintwork. If you can track down the original supplying dealer that is a good starting point or you could try your local Mercedes-Benz dealership, but if that is not successful we would suggest contacting Mercedes-Benz UK directly. However, it is worth mentioning that there has been no official recall for paint issues with Jupiter Red, and if the vehicle is out of warranty then it would be a matter of goodwill on the part of Mercedes-Benz if they were to assist. If this is the case a better option may be to seek advice from a local bodywork or paint specialist, who can advise on an appropriate repair which will likely cost significantly less than the same repair at a main dealer.
