Denied reponsibility

Last November (2010) a car skidded into the back of me on a wet road. The driver admitted responsibility and we exchange insurance details. My son who was in the car with me witnessed the whole thing.

The damage was seemingly superficial but required a new bumper and partial respay was required. My insurers arranged for the repair at a local body shop, they sent an assessor to check the quote before authorising the repair.

The work was carried out promptly and I declined the replacement hire car I was offered.

The other drivers insurers (Elephant) will not accept responsibility for the accident and as a consequence I have not been reimbursed my excess. Although I am supposed to have a protected NCD I am now getting renewal quotes 3 times more than I paid last year because insurance companies clearly feel the accident was my fault.

Sue the other driver for your financial loss using www.moneyclaim.gov.uk Tell Elephant and your own insurer this is what you propose to do before you do it.
