Breakeven point for petrol versus diesel?

I am looking at the SEAT Ateca - either the 1.5 TSI DSG Or 1.6 TDI DSG. I have been doing up to 15,000 miles a year of mixed motoring. What would be the break even mileage to make the petrol version more economical to run?

I have looked at real mpg and was also hoping to get a hybrid. However, the SEAT is the first SUV with both front seats adjustable high enough for my wife.

Taking the average Real MPG figure for the 1.5 TSI DSG Ateca (36.5mpg) versus the average for the 1.6 TDI DSG (49.6mpg) and multiplying it by the cost of each fuel over those 15,000 miles leaves a difference of roughly £440 a year. In our experience the figure for the petrol can be bettered, though, so it really comes down to purchase cost difference between the two.
