  The water pump was replaced 20,000 miles ago when I did the timing belts, and the thermostat is a recent replacement (Genuine Ford item) which I did when this started happening. It's made no difference. For what it's worth there is a healthy looking flow of coolant from the return hose on the top of the expansion tank which gets stronger with revs.

  I don't drive stupidly but would like the extra power on certain situations.  Initially looked at 2015 Mondeo but Powershift problems same with all cars using DSG autobox, then came across 2015 Mazda 6, auto box seems fine but 2.2 skyactiv engine has been awfully reviewed. BMW 320d.....not sure, seems timing chain issues and expensive to maintain.

  The Astra is fine, but didn't really appeal as much as the Fiat. They also had a Kia Ceed, 2015 1.4 petrol with 50k miles for around £6k but it was abit spartan compared to the others. Is the Fiat worth a punt ? We plan to keep the car for as long as it keeps going so residuals aren't really an issue.

  not used to car with lots of gadgets, but I assume that it should still be expected to stand for at least a fortnight and still start.   I know that the fiesta is better on fuel but theres other things to consider....... The fiesta is the Zetec S and sometimes the seats can be a little uncomfortable,   Also the Citroen is brand new so has a 3 year warrenty where as the fiesta does not (might be extreamly useful if we break down! The Citroen is more spacious as well, although to me it feels like a sloppy boat to drive as im used to the harder suspension of the fiesta.
