Van with most reliable automatic transmission? 5 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Unfortunately it has to be automatic. This may not be entirely accurate, but from the sources I have read thus far. Vw t4's had chocolate box transmissions, the t5's took until 2005 to sort most problems out. 2005-2009 aren't any great shakes in smoothness of changes. the latest with dsg boxes are problematic and require strict maintenance and v expensive to fix. -

Riding a Moped 12 Jan 2017 (Forum)
Then the law changed and they were limited to 30mph and no pedals. Looking at the DVLA categories AM has max speed of 28mph and P, max speed of 31mph. So if a 16 year old who has passed CBT and has an AM provisional or a car driver who has full AM under grandfather rights ride a sports moped like a Fizzie ?. -

Warming up a diesel? 11 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I've had conflicting advice on how to correctly warm up a diesel engine. 1) change gear at around 2.2k rpm 2) change gear at around 3k rpm ... changing at 3k does make it warm up a lot quicker and even improves fuel economy but i was told not to rev too high or hard until warm. My engine hits max hp at 3.6k and drops off at 4.2k so 3k seems high to me especially as max torque has been and gone. As you can see i do care about turbo health :) -

Lasts a few days and its flat again. It?s an original battery, so I replace it. While replacing it I check the current draw for the whole car; 300mA. I tried the Ford website ? no use, and their Tech Help line is £1/minute!! ? Outrageous ! -
Buying used car 20 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I’m a newbie in terms of what’s best on a car but my ideal car should have: comfort, good handling, engine size and bhp like my Seat or slightly more bhp (180 to 200ish max), automatic transmission. About petrol or diesel engine I have no idea, consider that usually my trips aren’t very long (commute is max 15/20 mins away plus local driving to shops in town) and I drive more during weekends (max 2 hours distance). -
Renault Clio II - Clio II pollution - how to read 4 gas analysis 12 Feb 2015 (Forum)
I've changed the spark plugs and filter and put in an additive, and although the values dropped from the initial fail, it's still not good enough: Acceleration (max CO 0.3, max lambda 0.97-1.03) CO 0.92 Lambda 0.978 Co2 14.4 O2 0.18 HC 90 And Idle (max CO 0.5) CO 0.54 CO2 13.2 O2 1.93 HC 169 I live in France so I'm not sure whether acceleration and idle are the correct ways if translating the two tests but I hope you might recognise them from UK terminology (I've never had to MOT a car in the UK).
