  Hello folks. My girlfriend owns a 1997/R Fiesta with the 1.25 Zetec-s engine. I have used the car a couple of times over the last few days and noticed a fairly serious problem with it which I need help with. The car only shows this problem when cold. When started and driven from cold there is an intermittent fault whereby the engine severly holds back.

  Hopefully when he’s passed his test, he will take it on, so must be very low insurance group too. Budget is £3500 max. Location between Salisbury and Southampton. I’ve been trawling autotrader and looking mainly at Ford Ka models. I realise they are very similar to a Fiat 500 but I get the feeling he would think them too ‘girly’.

    Took car for MOT on Tuesday (5days ago), failed Re-Mot test done on Thursday - (for bushes/bulbs/number plate only) Had only driven it maybe 5 miles max in one go but since the MOT was done I had noticed a funny smell an thought I could see a bit of smoke coming from engine - didn't really think anything of it . Anyway had a bit more of a drive today(Sunday), still only about 20 odd miles but substantially more smoke/smell was coming out - got someone to have a look under the bonnet and my oil cap is completely missing!?

  Last night s programme highlighted the trade in car parts from stolen cars. . Usually high end Audis and Range Rover but Ford Fiesta for some reason ? The  trackers are disabled and the cars are “ chopped “ in a matter of hours packed into containers for shipping to Eastern Europe or beyond.

  its my wife,s ,i put 4.54ltr in a can and drove till the fuel light came on then zeroed the trip meter and put the fuel in ,it only went 31 miles ! jeez its only 1.4 ,i have a 22year old ford escort 1600 auto that does a lot more to the gallon than ,i would have thought that in 22 years things would have progressed not gone backwards !

  Friend's S reg 1998 Mondeo diesel: The engine has started to run very roughly. Took it in to Ford dealer, they checked ECU etc. I suspected a slight blockage in the injection - so have put detergents in and given it an Italian tune up (ie revved it lots in driving).

  Anybody changed the heater balance resistor/ control pack as it may be known. Suspect it's gone U/S as the fan now only works on selection 4. It's a known common fault,but just want to make sure that the improved resistor pack Ford now offer is compatable with my 1997 model in terms of wiring colouring.

  Hi folks, Ive been looking at Personal Leasing for the next car and the new Jags seem to be very reasonably priced in comparison to the Audis I would really like. Im put off by the fact they are from the Ford parts bin (you all know of my Mondewoe problems). So how good are they? 2.5 or 3.0 X Type and 2.5 or 3.0 S Type. Bill
