  • Should I wait to buy a s/h Mondeo 4 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Hi All, I'm just wondering whether to buy a used Ford Mondeo now, or wait for the new model to come out later this month? My thinking is that when the new model comes on the market, fleets and private owners will trade in for the new model, which has had god reviews and therefore pushing the used prices down.

  • Focus Sooty Tailpipe 31 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Even after a long run the exhaust tailpipe shows a very black appearence inside, and on certain occasions when pull away the engine can \'pink\' slightly. The performance is reasonable (In line with HJ\'s Car by Car-description) and the car produces 36 mpg. In all other respects the car drives perfectly. My local Ford dealer thought the performance to be in line with other 1.6 Focus\'s but I believe they only did a cursory check.
  • Jaguar XF - Reliability & Smoothness of 4cyl petrol '18 Jag XF 26 Apr 2021 (Forum)
However, I'm aware the car is getting on now, so I'm considering it changing it, either for a 2014 / 2015 last of the old shape XF 3.0D 240bhp / 275bhp S or a 2018 new shape XF 2.0 Petrol 25t 250 bhp. I have no doubt that the 2014 / 2015 will be far superior to my old 2.7D but I'd be very interested to hear from anyone with experience of the petrol new shape XF.
  • BMW 120i Sport auto 2015 - Electrical glitches 24 Jan 2019 (Forum)
In Dec 2018 I purchased a BMW 120i Sport auto (65 plate) with 34k miles from an independent dealer   Three times in the first month of ownership I noticed warning signs flash up on the central information screen to show a defective light(s) – each time a physical check of all lighting revealed no defect   The dashboard digital clock has to be continually reset as it regularly loses time – as much as 5 minutes over a single week   On 24.01.19 at 0630 the outside temperature was around minus 3 C.
  • Bring back the Coupe 29 Apr 2020 (Forum)
In the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s we had loads of affordable yet practical sports coupes to choose from but today only the prestige brands really cater for this market. It gave mainstream brands like Ford, Vauxhall and Peugeot the opportunity to charge a higher price and achieve higher margins from mass market underpinnings with cars like the Capri, Puma, Probe, Cougar, Manta, Calibra, Tigra, 406/407 Coupe, Alfa GTV, Brera, MX6 and Celica without having to invest a huge sum of money.

  • What is the definition of a banger these days? 26 Feb 2024 (Forum)
Twenty or thirty years ago a banger, IMO, would be considered a very rusty, shabby car on its last legs. When advice was asked this week on what someone should replace her Ford Fusion with, someone wrote £2000 was banger money. My C-Max I've just bought for £1890 is pretty well immaculate inside and out (bar some wear to interior door handle inserts and a scuff on the rear bumper), no way is it a banger.
